Hey all,
the other day I was cleaning my windows and noticed when I put my hand on the engine cover, the black material was hardened and rubbing off easily.
Now I was curious if I could just wipe off all this material/sand it/etc. to a smooth surface? And then have it painted OEM black gloss to match my black car? Can this be done?
Thanks

I don't see why not but you might not like the reflection a gloss black cover may reflect on the hatch.

Sure you can do it. Just sand smooth and use plastic bumper primer before painting. You may want to cut out the center and add mesh. There is an article somewhere online about how to do this. Or you can just buy one of my carbon fiber engine covers. I have many different styles available. You can see them here http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/exterior_performance_products/NSX/Cantrell_Concepts/engine_cover/

Hey NSXFOYOASS,
I did it, I painted mine red to match the car.
It looks great, but a real pain in the ass to see out the rear glass during the day.
The glare is wicked, there are times I can't see a thing.
Tint on glass may help.
Good Luck
