Emissions in Ft. Collins, CO?

Surprised our Ft Collins members haven't responded. There is emission testing in 9 FrontRange counties in Colorado all around Denver.

I'm not sure if it goes as far north at Ft Collins or not. If I had to guess, I would say NO, but I could be wrong. If you know someone in Grand Junction, Aspen, Pueblo, Steamboat, I am sure there is no emission testing there.

Good luck

Cool! I appreciate the info!

I think you can get in trouble if you get pulled over and have a drivers license from a different state other than where the car is registered, unless you put it in someone elses name. Check it out first. That happened to me many years ago...big fine.

If I got pulled over I was plannin on saying that the car is rarely here as it spends most of it's time in CO at my uncles place. You think that'll fly?

Im sure they have heard those stories before...how loud is your exhaust?

In my case I got rear-ended on the 405 and the other driver's insurance company notified DMV about my out of state plates. I received a letter of inquiry from DMV about why I was a CA resident with out-of-state plates. Its not just a matter of getting pulled over.

My exhaust is pretty darn loud. I've gotta think CA is tougher on these things than AZ. I hope...

Pretty much any place that's been around should be able to do it. I'm not aware of any that are on the take...so make sure your car will pass CO emissions (which are hard to fail, frankly). As of the new year emissions tests are no longer required in many parts of CO, including Fort Collins, at least on renewals (I think also not required for initial registration, but could be wrong).

Fort Collins Muffler and Automotive is where I would go. The place looks like a dump but the guys there are honest and know what they're doing. If I decide to have a shop swap my exhausts it will be them (or I'll do it myself) and when I have the NSX alignment checked/set it will be with them (they've been bang on with my other vehicles, which I can't say for other places). I could also recommend Metric Motors in Loveland. Highline Motors (Fort Collins) seems like a nice/clean place that knows how to handle higher-end cars (what they buy/sell), but not allowing me in the shop (though I could look through a window into the shop) while they did an emissions test on the NSX means I probably won't go back.

BTW, what have you done to your car that it won't pass emissions (NSXs are very clean-burning)?

Thanks for the good info! I ended up taking the car to Utah to get titled and registered. I should be able to renew online forever. It's not for the NSX (which just passed emissions with flying colors). It's for the Supra.

Yeah but they're still very suspicious of JDM cars at the DMV. Cops are also very suspicious of modified cars that are registered in emissions lax cities. I'm golden with my Utah plate (i hope...), except when my car gets keyed by a Mormon hater.
