I love to cook and to a real chef there is nothing like a good flame !

In that statement lies the very dilemma I am having. Maybe this electromagnetic thing is better than open flame? It will boil a gallon of water in 60 seconds. That sure sounds good to me.
The problem is once I choose, I am stuck. The countertop guy says once he cuts the granite I am stuck with the opening he cuts, so I want to be sure I pick the right cook top.

magnetic induction is cool stuff, just remember you have to use ferrous pots and pans for it to work. no cooking in glassware.

Very limited in cookware.

Nothing cooks like gas:D

I know the people who own Bob Chinn's Crab House in Chicago and they use them in their restaurant and like them a lot. On the other hand I have a patient who owns a very high end catering business and he hates them. He works for some unbelievably wealthy people and he likes gas the best. I am not sure if this helps.

I think I remember you saying you are a doctor? Do you know of any medical risk associated with electromagnetic energy and pregnancy?

Not that I know of, you just want her not to stand too close to the range (or microwave). You want to keep her and the baby out of the area of the electric field formed by the appliance.

Flame.. Get a commerical grade cook top if possible. try to stir-fry and use a wok on electric is horrible.

One my next range or cook top I would like a grill option so I can grill steak and chicken indoor.

I have the grill option on my current cook top and I hardly ever use it. It make a huge freaking mess. The whole kitchen is bright white so I think that makes the mess look even worse.
I don't use a wok, I have never used a wok. That may change as this induction cook top comes with a wok. I found out today that we are getting this electromagnetic cook top. It has already been ordered and will be installed on December 7th.

As long as they havent cut the counter yet you can still cut your looses and get the gas.

its probably bad if you have guests that have pace makers though =o

Change is good.

They said that about asbestos years ago at the worlds fair in NyC.......Its the revolutionary material of the future. Who knew it thousands would die from working with it years later.......Yes change is good but I still like gas and just think if the electric heat cuts out you could heat your house with the stove.
