Electrics come and go

I am a new 1991 owner and just received the car bought on ebay. The electrics seem to "come and go" with the key on. The engine can be running then it just dies and the whole dash dies at the same time. The key can be turned on and nothing "lights up " on the dash but then other times it works fine? Isnt there some typical "master relay" or something problem with these cars?

Find the "clean and repair" thread for your ignition switch.
It's easy and most probably will do the job.

If you remove the white part, (from the picture from the previous post link) and disassemble it, (very straight forward and easy) and clean the corrosion / build-up from the contact areas with light sandpaper, put some dielectric grease on the contact points and reassemble, reinstall it should do the job.

Thanx Prime......I received my new main relay and ignition switch today and installed them. The electrics work much better now.
