My friend's husband sold his Land Cruiser on ebay to a buyer in California. (I dont know how people buy cars on ebay without checking it out.) But he sold it and got the money paypal successfully.
He then got a phone call from a flatbed company one day and said they were in the area. They were able to pick up the car in 45 minutes. He did not have the car cleaned out yet, so he told them not to come by.
He called the buyer and asked him why he sent a flatbed without letting him know. The buyer said he never did arrange the pickup yet.
So my friend said that it was a close one. They almost lost a car to some scamer.
Have you guys heard of this before? are the scamers tracting sells on ebay?

How would the flatbed scammer know the sellers name and phone number?
Either...
A) The seller listed both in his auction listing (happens all the time).
or
B) Had some communication with the seller, acting as an interested buyer.

Wow! That was a close call. Thank goodness that the car hadn't been cleaned out!

Good thoughts. I am just posting this to let you guys know that you can never be too careful.

I wonder what would happen if you agreed, and then called the buyer. You would know it was a scam and probably call the cops. What would the scammers say when the cops show up while they're loading up the car?
