e-brake adjustment issues

so i did a few searches on prime, and found how to remove the center arm console to reveal where the e-brake cables run to the e-brake handle. i recently installed the brembo GT kit on front and rear, and having problems with the e-brake fully engaging and clamping down hard enough on the rotor to hold the car in place (specially on inclines and declines).

i removed the center console, and tried to turn a "socket" shaped silver bolt that seems to be threaded onto a long shaft that runs up to the e-brake. between the bolt and shaft is the link piece that is holding the 2 e-brake cables from the left and right side together. as i turn it there doesn't seem to be any movement. it completely rotates, but the tension seems to neither get tighter or loser.... just rotates...

help???

This probably won't help, but the procedure is on pg 19-4 of the manual. (pdf pg. 691). Are you sure you're turning the right thing?

do you have a link to an online pdf file of manual?

Little red bar at top of screen below NSXPO ad (sorry, I am not smart enought to paste in a picture of it from a screen capture).
Hit FAQ,
then hit red button at bottom right for "Reference",
then link for 1991 NSX service manual.
Click on the scanned in picture of the various car sections (you will see cursor change from arrow to little hand) to start download.
Wait long time.

I already have a copy saved on my computer. When I tried to open it just now from the link it is either very slow downloading or my computer got weird, not sure which. It is 53MB & ~1400 pgs so it will take time to download. Once (if) you get it open hit the button to save a copy in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Save it on your computer so you can just look stuff up without having to wait for another download. I strongly recommending burning a copy onto a CD too so you don't have to download it ever again if your computer craps out or you ever reinstall your operating system.

thanks so much... yeah, this is the adjustment nut i'm turning... but seem to not get it to rotate with increasing cable tension... it just seems to just rotate around...

The first thing I would check is if the bolt is actually moving up on the threaded shaft, or is it stripped?

If it is moving towards the front of the car(tightening the cable) then the issue is probably since you added the Comptech e-brake system the cables are slightly too long. I would try adding spacer washers in front of the bolt to allow for a tighter adjustment.

I have not installed this myself, but I thought I recall this in the past. I would also recommend calling Comptech to discuss, they would know first hand:).

HTH,
