I just bought a Lite-on 8X multi-format DVD writer yesterday and tried ripping a movie with DVD Decrypter with no problem. After ripping it to the hard drive in “File” mode, I was able to watch the movie on my computer with AC3 5.1 audio. The problem was burning it from the hard drive to a DVD-R. Some suggested that using Nero 5.5.10.xx or Sonic MYDVD version 4.0 (OEM with the burner), would I be able to burn it with DVD decrypter? Anyway I burned it again in ISO mode with no luck and my player gave me an "Disk Error" message. Could someone provide me an outline of ripping and burning by using DVD Decrypter and DVD shrink only?

Thank you for your assistance in advance.

I would use the latest version of DVD Shrink + latest version of Nero 6.

You might have some holes in your knowledge. I suggest doing some reading from DVDRHELP.COM which is a very useful resource:

edit: DVDshrink is pretty simplistic, but here's a tutorial just in case.. might be worth checking? http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm

Also, what speed/model disc are you using??? If you're burning to DVD+R your DVD player might be one of the 10% that don't support it?

It turned out that my standalone players couldn't handle the format. My friend was able to play my disk on all his players including the xbox.

Thank for all your advice.

*bow* no worries.
Glad you were able to diagnose the problem.

Out of interest, what brand of DVD-R were you using?

If anyone is interested, I am abandoning DVDXcopy Platinum for other options. Just ordered Nero 6 and will do the 2 part process.
DVDcopy is not illegal to use (yet), just for the manufacturer to sell with the ripper. It was great until it started burning coasters.
I hv spent enough time trying to fix it.
Once DVDcopy starts finalizing early/burning coasters, it is not worth messing with in my opinion. I hv plenty of other things in which I choose to spend my free time.
MikeC, hope your install never starts burning coasters! It is maddening!

I used Fuji. I am going to do more fine tuning and settle for one media.
