I'm so sick and tired of reading about people killing other people while DUI and getting a slap on the wrist for it.
A guy here was sentenced yesterday for a DUI accident last year. It was his second DUI in 2 years and he's only 28. He hit a car head on killing a 35 year old women and her 2 parents, both in their 70's. The woman's 7 year old daughter doesn't have a mom now. He wasn't even supposed to be driving. His car was equipped with one of those devices where you have to blow into it before it will start. This was put on after his first DUI. To get around it, he drove his wife's truck where he caused this accident.
He pleaded guilty to two second-degree felony counts of automobile homicide and a third-degree-felony charge of driving under the influence of alcohol (weren't there 3 deaths?! ) He was ordered to serve two sentences of 1 to 15 years for the homicides and zero to five years for the DUI.
So basically he will serve a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 35 years. I'm guessing it will be closer to the 2 years. Why do these stories always seem to be out there? When will they realize that driving is a PRIVELAGE, not a right?
Sorry for the rant and thanks for letting me vent. I just see this crap all day long in the papers and with my job. I'm getting really tired of it.
