Hey Doug, I'm gona move to SF and just commute to san rafael. Anyways you have any idea of a safe garage to rent? I think ill be movin around geary/filmore but wouldn't mind leavin the car cross town as it's not my DD. let me know if you have any ideas. thx!

Don't know off hand. It's difficult if it's not part of your building. I know some people in my building sublet parking space. For example the lady that parked next to me didn't live in my building but down he street. Sometimes you see signs on lamp post that say they are looking for parking or parking is able to be rented. I'll keep my eyes out. When are you moving?

Anyways, I got 30 days. the building I'm moving to (the Fillmore Center more than likey) It has gated underground parking and seems nice but people mention the area isn't the best. and the building has like 200 people and it takes just one bad egg. You know anything about the area or is pretty much all SF kinda similar if you have gated community parking.

LOL. Yeah, I know that building. I shop at the Safeway over there. I have gated parking. Everyone does. I park on the bottom (6th) floor and don't worry about it. If someone is going to screw with your car, they are going to screw with your car. I don't think we have any spaces but I'll check for you. I looked on Craigslist. There are a few there.:biggrin:

Thats crazy, living in SF and commuting to San Rafael. Bay bridge traffic is the WORST in the bay area IMO. It takes me 2-3 hours just getting from SF to El Sobrante, weekday afternoons during rush hour and its just 25 miles or so.

Maybe its not so bad leaving SF in the morning and returning in the afternoon???? I'm usually the opposite so I don't know......

I'd take the ferry to Larkspur and ride a bicycle the last 3-4 miles to San Rafael.

Put a cover on the car. Out of sight, out of mind........generally

San Francisco to San Rafael doesn't use the Bay Bridge. It's via the Golden Gate. FAR less traffic, plus it's a reverse commute. Car cover is probably a good idea. I've noticed all of the P cars in my garage use covers. Living in San Francisco --Priceless!:biggrin:

Then for your sake, I hope you pick your residence location wisely. I'm sure it'll be a breeze just driving the couple miles through town to get to the golden gate.

Doug was pointing out that the Bay Bridge is not the bridge to take to go north to San Rafael. The Golden Gate Bridge is the one that leads directly there. If you were to take the Bay Bridge you'd have to drive north on 580 to the Richmond Bridge to go back over the bay to San Rafael.

A reverse commute to San Rafael from your location is about 30 min each way.
I live on the sunny side of the GG bridge ;-)
