Driver Side Door Lock Mechanism Removal

Need to remove to see if I can get the door latch switch that signals door open or closed out.

Can this be removed with out removing window tract? Looks tight.

yes it can be removed without removing the window track you need to turn it almost upside down and slide it above the center crash support beam
then it will pull out easy. but remember how it came out because its the only way it will go back in.

Got stuck on one procedure.

How do you remove the outside door handle rod that connects to the locking mechanism.

It is a rod with a plastic sort of cap(lock) that snaps into the arm on the lock mechanism. You need to pop it out, I use a long needle nose plier, and pry/pop it out. Can be a pain with the window track in place.

One last question. I assume you do not have to remove the inner metal door skin and that is enough room to snake it through the "hole" by the window track.
