A couple weeks before we needed to ship our LoveFab car to Vegas for NSXPO, I was pushing it around in the garage and heard that infamous tick-tick-tick of an unhappy CV joint.
I lucked into a used complete DS axle assembly on eBay and it arrived in time to inspect, repack the CV's, install and even test it a bit before the trip.
This may be due to the high-horsepower nature it had been used in the past, but it was the outer housing itself (not the CV bearings) that was showing some wear.
Now, this is for a turbo so on a stock NSX the CV's should be able to be re-packed and treated to new CV boots (or if servicing the axle on the car re-using the boots new band clamps perhaps) when the grease starts looking like soft-serve ice cream, and keep on trucking for quite some time.
