Doors lock all the time

Before I have to remove the door panels to troubleshoot the door actuators, I have verified the door switches for proper operation and currently have them removed. When I have disconnected the keyless control unit I have been able to unlock the doors when I plug the unit back in the doors remain up with the power on. When I proceed to acutate the doors to the lock position they again remain in the locked position and only come up for an instant before locking again.
The question is am I correct in assuming that the problem is in the control unit? Thank you for your comments and help!!!

This is the way the keyless entry works. If the car is locked, and you press the button to unlock the doors, it will re-lock the doors after about ten seconds if you have not opened the driver's side door during that period. If you open the driver's side door right away, it does not re-lock the doors.
