Guys, my passenger side door will not open from the inside. The problem does not occur all the time, but now and then... More oftern than not it seems not to open... I took the door apart and it looks like when i try and open it from the inside, it doesnt pull the latch down far enough... almost.. just maybe a 1/2 inch or less more needed.

I looked in the FAQ and found this "

CEW, DG, BSD, LL] The problem usually announces itself with a cracking sound as you pull on the door handle. As soon as that happens you can move the handle with no resistance and the door won't open from the inside. The replacement parts kit includes:

Door lock switch/cable
Latch spring
Mounting brackets
The latch itself
Latch housing.
The parts cost on this kit is about $450. Labor is minimal and anyone familiar with a screwdriver should be able to replace the assembly themselves in 15 minutes. Acura has been known to goodwill this repair."

That does not sound like the problem i am having as it is still off and on working...

What do you guys suggest? any help would be appreciated...

thanks..

Hmmm. The interior part is either broken or it is not. Also - the cable is pulled toward the front of the car releasing the door.

As I recall / visualize there are 3 indents. You can "adjust" the cable possibly if it is on the front or middle indent.

Also - the cable should not be kinked or bound up in any way. You should be able to pull the cable and release the door with your fingers and without a lot of force.

My bet is that if you closely inspect the plastic it is cracked or cracking and you will need the replacement part from Dali or the list member that was providing it (search and you shall find them).

Good luck.

Nick.. thanks for your help. I put it on the wrong indent.. creating less tension instead of more.. it works now.. thanks..

Man.. i am getting pretty good at taking the doors off the damn car...

Glad I could help - btw - you know this doesn't require door removal I am sure. Just remove the leather panel under the handle, remove a couple screws and you are home free.

Just in case someone else reads this some day and thinks complete door panel removal is required...

Netviper,

Glad to see that nothing is broken. Now and then the door sometimes will not open fully. I panic last time as I just repaired the broken handle last time. It turn out to be that the latch doesn't have enough grease on it. Applied some grease onto the latch and the problem solved.
