I have always wanted an NSX and finally got one less than a month. I have gone to a local shop in Anaheim to perform all the major and non major services. What I have since notice after driving the car was a popping sound when openning the driver side door. Immediately what came to mind was door stop assembly since I have the same issue with my old Mercedes. I have since openned the door panel and began tinkerring low and behold it was the plastic door stop housing that broke and making the annoying popping sound. I have remove the speakers to access the subject but was unable to wiggle it out- also removed the pin that holds the door stop to the chassis. Has anyone here ever performed this replacement? In doing some researched; I found out that this is an issue with a lot of Hondas; also taking into account the age of the car. I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide me with a feed back concerning the subject matter.

Thank you,

thats not the issue you did all that work for nothing, its the plastic cap that is making the anoying pop sound yes... when you pull the pin out to make the door swing out if you look at the
arm there is a plastic round piece that goes into the arm that the pin goes down into that has expanded over the years thats the part you need. but... not made anymore.

there was a prime member that I sent one to so he could make a production run and sell them but never heard back from him.

now... I have thought of another solution to this problem I have looked at other honda makes/models and none have this stupid plastic cap thingy so my idea was to
find a bolt that the almost EXACT SIZE of the hole where the pin goes it a and drill it just a little to make the new bolt fit and the problem would be solved.

then the arm clicks to the first hole the arm bounces back which make the pin hit the inner structure makeing the pop sound that drive you freaking mad...

the housing you see in the pic is to protect it from water falling downward nothing more. if you look the bolts hold the mech to the door frame it will not move. If you removed the whole
plastic housing the arm will rust out eventually.

this one I have is from a 2002 and will work for all years need it LOL PM me.

Thanks for the input. How did you take out the entire assembly? I went to Acuraworldparts and was able to order the entire assembly with plastic end. I am assuming that the plastic cap will be also on the passenger side door; will check right now.

without that plastic peice it will do the same thing. getting it out I forget but it takes some wiggling, I think the front window rail need to come out before you can get enought room to move it around.
