Does the speaker cover come off without taking the door panel off?

no I think from memory it has tabs on the inside that are bent over holding the cover in place, so the door card has to come off
Mine just popped right out. I needed to bend the tabs a bit so they would snap back in but I had no trouble removing or reinstalling without removing the door card.
The speaker cover tabs are folded over into the door trim. Pulling them out could cause severe damage. You need to pull the door liner.
The good news is since they're just bent tabs holding them in it makes it super easy to replace the grille cloth if it's faded/damaged on them!
