My '91 does not have plastic sheet door seals - it's the plastic sheet that you usually have to peel back to work on the window regulators or door speakers. I'm in the process of installing new ones - you can actually buy the plastic sheets from Acura. Does anyone know what they are used for? I am assuming it's a vapor barrier of some sort. The previous owner had dyna mat? installed on the door panels - it's supposed to improve the sound. Do you have to remove the plastic door seals to install dyna mat?

Yes. The plastic interferres with the dynamating process. After removing the rain shield, I chose to leave mine off as well. But my dynamat job now acts as the the rain shield. The goal is to prevent any water from tracing its way into the inner door linning and forming a resovoir in your electronic couplers. That, and all the other more obvious advantages of keeping water off your goods. If you are paronoid, isolate you couplers with broad sleeve shrink wrap.
