Does your NSX get too much attention?

Being a Canadian, I just wanted to know how other Canadians felt about the response that their NSX gets. When I first saw my car in a garage - I was blown away...it was so damn surreal...I felt like I was looking at an Enzo or a McLaren F1 for the first time! Well...its been four months since I bought her from a great enthusiast in Olds - and the response by people on the street is way out there! Its almost spooky how they respond to the car and that was in December when I drove her to Calgary! I guess that people see her in the same light as I did when I bought her - but at times it seems like its way over the top! I have heard from other Prime members in the states that their NSX is not considered exotic or unique! I on the other hand have not experienced this mindset in Calgary - how about the rest of you Crazy Canucks?

although i love the attention i get while driving it or parking somewhere
thats not the reason y i bought it ... besides that
i only consider myself being annoyed by the attention is when im for example going to Acura for a quick pick up of a part and ppl crowd around the car and asking me stupid questions.. or even when im trying to get something and get out ppl with the dumb questions and annoyances seem to always be around

There are certain to be more Ferrari's and Lamborghini's in Calgary than there are NSX's. Your ride will always get the attention in a local where they are rarely spotted by the bulk of the population. You think it gets the attention now. Imagine how much attention the NSX received when the only X's in Canada were the ones originally released in Canada. I'm no expert, but based upon numerous threads on this board and conversations with other owners I suspect there are just as many imported US models here now as there are original CDN release models.

Mine gets tons of attention here too.

I get asked how much it costs far too frequently though.

Aside from that, its all fine. I love watching kids go crazy when I let them sit in the car.

Hey Dam. Great question. I get astronomical attention when I drive around. ( At first I thought it may be my good looks...... ) but when I drive my other cars it seems I am just a nobody. I get attention from all ages. The kids love it giving me a "bow" when I drive by. Last week I had 2 cars ask me at a red light if I could rev it up so they could " hear the beauty " One even held out his cell phone to pick up the sound for the guy on the other end ). No that is the nicest compliment one can pay me. It is a very unique car with beautiful lines and is not an ubiquitous Vette or Viper. It stands out from the rest.

Firstly, there is no such thing as a dumb question ! People are excited for you and they get the courage to approach you and ask. Understand that most cannot afford a beautiful car like the "X". Also, you are very young to own one Zak and that also draws up a persons curiosity. I like to think that not only is the NSX unique, but so are it's drivers. Honda gave it to 3 F1 drivers for feedback and fine tuning and handeling. This in its own right proves its status.

I love the attention and so does my Son when we go crusing. The NSX is both exciting in Looks and sound.

If anyone out there is a "conservative" personallity, buy yourself a modest vehicle. Otherwise let people hear your sound and feel your vibrations 3 blocks away !!!! They are happy for you...Be happy for yourself !!

Back when I had the NSX, it always got tons of attention. The first one I had, a 91 Silver on black, was just unreal....people literally rolled down their windows and stared with their mouths hanging wide open,..it was hilarious.
In fact, it got way more attention then any of my previous Porsches, or even my current 550.
The only car that got more looks or more outrageous attention than the NSX was the 355...but that is probably one of the hottest looking cars ever designed, and it came out after the NSX (....it was probably designed in response to the NSX, since the NSX was Hondas answer to the 328/348)

The sound of the NSX, especially in stock form when the VTEC opens up, is also pretty hot (although, even that paled in comparision to a full Tubi 355)

Rick you are right,
i understand im quite young to be owning that type of car.... but i do have friends in the same situation and sometimes more... questions such as how fast does it go? what have u brought it up to? stuff like that does bother me and how do you answer something like that without a smirky remark if any?
Dont get me wrong I love the attention and all..
I bought the car more for my enjoyment.. i dont really buy a car that I think others will like.. on any car ive had in the past.. ive gotten compliments

Hey Goldy...do you have any pics of your 355? Do you still have the NSX? If you have the 355, is it a fully manual model...or does it have a paddle shifter? Love those cars...they were and are the most reliable Ferrari ever built...though the Enzo is an anazing piece of work...we have a guy who owns an Enzo...ZR Exotics...I knew the guy when he had a silver Countache and ran a jean shop in Calgary...

I agree on the sound part -- 355+Tubi is pure heaven. One day I'll have both: NSX for daily driving and 355 for weekend fun!

Steve, if I recall, you ended up getting the 550 because the 355 got "too much" attention right? The 550 is definitely a more understated car as far as Ferrari's go.

Yes, that was the case. Also, the interior was a little too dated for my tastes.
I found the 550 to be the best "compromise" which matched my driving style and personal preference.

I don't still have either of my NSXs, although I should have at least kept the silver one...it was just unbelievably good looking.
I Can't really justify more than one "toy" car...not with the kids now at the "need a car & a university education" stage, LOL!

As for the 355, I wouldnt exactly call it the most reliable F-car of all time...it still had some serious issues with potential valve guide failure (due to the use of bronze  rather than steel), as well as stock exhaust manifolds which tended to burn out at a ridiculous rate. Both of these together could run you way over $20,000...not a good thing. And both were design flaws (although, they eventually switched to the steel guides in mid-98 I believe...sort of like the snap ring failure range of those 91s-92s NSXs, if I recall correctly)
I didnt have any serious problems with mine, but most agree that the 360 is a huge step forward in terms of reliability (as well as maintenance costs in general)....still, the 355 was one hell of a looker, and boy, could she sing!!

My 355 was manual, and if I can find a pic I'll toss one out there in the next few days...

I get too much attention from the local police, opp, and MTO. First thing they ask is if I own it. Then from people I get good attention, and bad. Always love answering any question, let anybody sit in it and so fourth. Since the Turbo install, it screams F1. I have been told by collegues, and friends that it sounds crazy (When the wastegate opens), and a 2 1/2 ft flame that pops out the back. There will ALWAYS be lovers, and haters.....

"Tons" is to put it mildy .. :D heh heh

More like "acosted" .. Dave I dunno how you do it man, its like you're Paris Hilton being chased by the paparazzi..

When I picked up my NSX last week the previous owner helped me find my way out of town. He was driving his pearl yellow Gallardo and we both had to stop to gas up. His car got circled at the pump and I was left relatively alone.....fine by me. I couldn't believe the level of attention his Gallardo got. Every time he stopped people would be taking photos and coming up to his car....its nice to get a bit of attention but that much would drive me crazy.

Dave, they wouldn't scream as much if you didn't have that "special rule" that the boys have to sit on your lap to protect the leather!

I get a bit of attention, being Yellow, it does stand out. But I think it also depends where you are, around my neighbourhood there are enough "special interest" cars that I just get smiles and waves, when I drive down to Watkins Glen for a race (or out to Oshawa) I get stares, questions, etc.

I haven't done my exhaust because I already attract too much "Cop" attention, I find if there's a cop in a position to make a U-Turn and follow me, its 50-50 he's gonna - I assume thats Yellow Sports Car, now if I sounded loud too...

Stu, the only reason cops do the U Turn on you is that you're pulling over on Church to talk to guys standing on the side of the road with their cut offs on.

How is it you need to ask directions on every corner?

I'm actually a pretty conservative guy, and don't try to look for attention when I take my car out. In fact, I chose black specifically because I hope it blends into traffic better. I just love these cars from an engineering, dynamic and historic point of view. My friends don't understand that. They always tell me that if they were me, they'd drive all day with the windows down, blasting music and crusing the bar district for looking for attention. Not me. I drive it to work occasionally, park in my private hidden spot, and after work leave in a discrete route. I keep windows closed at intersections and even stop a few feet shy of the next car to avoid eye contact. Strange huh?

However, the car gets attention EVERYWHERE it goes. Usually admiration, but I get the occasional scoff that its an imitation Ferrari  A Corvette owner have told me its slow. Since my mods started it gets even more attention now, and I imagine as soon as the blower goes in (a Gruppe M is very visible) it will only add to that effect. I simply love the car. The attention it gets is part of its reality but I tend to shy away from it.

Well exuuuuuse me Stu !! You should live out in the sticks like I do. my neighbours ( not the homeless ones ) drive tractors or horses so mine sticks out more than yours does..( The NSX that is )

Now I know why you always describe your X as "part of your body"
