I am sick and tired of my insurance rates going up every 6 months. We have been with Allstate for 5 years. All they advertise is how many discounts they have etc. etc. and yet our rates go up every single time. We have not ONCE had a claim with them. Of course the replacement value of our cars (minus NSX) is a hell of a lot less than 5 years ago. So why do our rates keep going up?

What is your experience?

you need to talk to your agent and do a personal audit..that will likely save you some money.

I am with Progressive. Same situation, no claims or accidents, but yet my rates do go up every 6 months, by very little though. I attribute it to inflation I suppose.

It seems that's the way of the insurance industry which is to pull you in with a good rate then over time increase it and hope you don't notice or tolerate it for at least a couple of years before switching. Although it is a pain, switching is often the best bet to get better rates. Last time I got fed up and started to shop around and found that I could save 700 dollars a year between auto and home insurance. Once I got that quote I called my current carrier and said re-write my policy with a price more inline with the quote I received or "buh-by". They re wrote the policy and got close enough to the quote that I stayed. That was Liberty Mutual BTW.

I'm with state farm and my auto insurance has been steady. like someone mentioned above, my home owner goes up every year.

USAA has been steady for me, at least for my previous vehicle which is just as old as the NSX. I'm going to keep an eye on the NSX's rates over a longer time period, but for the first 'rate update' it remained unchanged.

My rates adjust annually. I have combined home and auto. I do recall the home insurance does go up. Auto may also go up but not significantly. I attribute this to inflation rather than risk/underwriting.

The current issue of Consumer Reports (June) has a comparison of auto insurance carriers with satisfaction index. USAA came out on top with NJM (my carrier) second.

I've been with Arbella for as long as I can remember. It used to be in MA that all auto insurance cost the same as it was state regulated so everybody just charged the maximum. It changed a few years back but I never thought to look into other options until last month. As much as I hate Geico, their anti-radar detector policy and the fact they buy the police LIDAR and radar guns so their own customers get bagged for speeding, I just switched to GEICO anyway. My auto rates for two vehicles (05 RL, 11 Odyssey) dropped from $1700/year to $950/year (that's apples to apples, same exact coverage and deductibles). I've wasted thousands. We'll see what happens next year, but with Arbella anyway, the rates have tended to stay about the same year after year (but in MA, that was to be expected up until recently)

I've had my NSX for one year and two renewals with USAA. Insurance went down when I got married and went down yet again on this most recent (March) renewal. At $89/mo. my premium is lower than with my S2000.

I just switched from Allstate - compared to esurance (which they own) they are very overpriced. Going to save almost 100 dollars a month now... supposedly same coverage line for line so we will see.

Weird thing is though my Allstate always event down every six months as I turned 25, got married, bought a house, combined cars etc - so you can imagine how much I used to pay!

Statefarm. Mine goes down every year it seems like.

Ditto. I'm convinced that their computers or software settings are jacked in my favor.

Whenever I make a rock chip claim my rates dropped.

I've had a few of my friends convert from other insurance carriers after seeing my luck.

I LOL at:

Progressive
Geico
Allstate
USAA

Only 2 other insurance companies I would consider are:

AAA
Costco's Ameriprise
