I was wondering if anyone new if the older front end, can be used on the new '03 models if it is compatible meaning will some of the parts fit a 2003 model like suspension parts, control arm, stabilizer, damper, wishbone, radiator, front end panels, headlights, hood etc.

I have heard fo people using the 03 front end on the older models to give a facelift, i figure they werent changing everything around, that would be crazy and costly.

basically has everything stayed the same besides the change in hood, bumper, fenders and headlights, and is the frame the same or diferent to accomodate the new shaped panels?????

thnak you.

I think you need to divulge your intended purpose... i.e. Why?

1. Do you prefer the "look" of the pre 2002 model? So is it cosmetic only?

or,

2. You want to repair your later model with cheaper 2nd hand parts from the earlier cars?

If you just like the looks of the older model and want to make your '03 look like a pre '02 model then I don't see why you need suspension parts, control arm, stabilizer, damper, wishbone and radiator?

If you are looking at a cheap front end repair, then I don't see why you are looking for front end panels, headlights, hood etc which are obviously different from the '03?

i have a coplete earlier front end for sale and i have someone with a 03 interested in using it to fix their car, and i wasnt sure of the answer so i posted here, with the experts.

If the newer front end fits the older body then the opposite should also hold true. The only difference I found are the brackets that hold the bumper to the frame.

I don't understand.

The newer front end doesn't fit the older body (as a straight bolt-on). You can make it fit, if you're willing to replace or fabricate parts like the hood, etc. But, for example, you can't just put 2002-05 headlights onto a 1991-2001 NSX without modifying/replacing other parts as well. The ability to interchange parts depends on what you want to swap, and what else needs to change in order to accommodate it.

And since the first statement isn't true, the opposite is also not true.

Armando, am I misunderstanding you? Because I'm sure you're already aware of this...

As for the non-body components, they changed some of the engineering (brake caliper piston diameters and damping rates on the suspension, for example) over the years. You may be able to bolt some of those components on, but they will not perform exactly the same as the ones for that year. The differences may, or may not, be acceptable.

The newer front end DOES fit the older body as the car frame is the same as are the fenders. BLACK asked if the bumper, hood and lights would fit from older model to a newer and the answer is yes. No need to modify the light buckets as the older ones are smaller in size and would fit in the newer(2002) and up) larger buckets. As for the hood it bolts right on to the original hinges. The front bumper fits perfectly on the cars frame using the 2002 brackets.

Okay, now I understand the reason for the discrepancy:

Yes - as long as you are changing ALL of those parts at the same time. Not individually (e.g. the lights without changing the hood).

Thanks for the clarification.

No problemo :)

Thought I'd revive this thread to ask a related/similar question:

Can I attach the 2002+ front spoiler/skirt to an OEM 1991 upper bumper?

IOW, I just want to change the lower part of the bumper to 2002+ without anything else.

Is this feasible?

Thanks
