Does it hurt to remove the intake baffle?

Just a quick question. There is the air intake baffle on the driver side side intake that runs into the air filter box. Does it hurt to have this baffle removed? Is it still possible to drive the car in the rain with it removed?

I did it on my 97 and had absolutely no problems with water getting into the engine bay.

I had an RM cone setup at the time.

Just watch out when you wash your car.

Did you have some sound enhancement with the baffle removed? Do you also think the intake will "breath" better?
