Does anyone know anything about this car?

I checked the carfax and it said 3 owners. The dealer said it was a one owner car, that the first owner was the bank/original purchaser. The 2nd was when the car was paid off and the title reissued only in the purchaser's name, and the third owner was the dealer (he put in in his name as it is a personal car). I don't know the car but if what the dealer is saying is correct then your carfax should read that a lien was recorded along with the first title. This would be the norm for a leased car. The title owner would be the leasing company and or bank. Assuming that "driver/lessee" paid it off then the title would be assigned to him and retitled in his name. If he then traded it in or sold it outright to a dealer it is highly unlikely that the dealer titled it in his name for two reasons: with his dealer tags he would have no sales tax or registration fees.
