Does anybody here use Recaro Pole Positions?

I'm ordering them from Mark Johnson at Dali Racing and I was wondering if anyone here uses them. Do you use the fixed seat mounts or some sort of customer slider unit? I've been suggested to use the Taitec ones from Chris Wilson at Science of Speed, but I'll still need a bracket that will mount the seats to the rails.

Any experiece here at all? I've heard someone using Sparco brackets to mount the seat to the Taitec slider.

Just to clarify if anybody is wondering what Peter's talking about.

The Recaro Pole Position is 279mm at the base (from memory) and is exactly the width of the distance between the TAITEC sliding seat rails... so, they won't fit in between the rails, you have to mount them on top of the rails. The rails are supplied with brackets, however, because the Pole Position sits above the rails, they are too short. I suggested Peter use aluminum Sparco mounts to bolt instead of the supplied brackets, as they are higher. Peter, if you need the mounts, I can order those for you. If all else fails, we can run down to Target and get you some lawn chairs ;-)

Regards,

Hey Chris, thanks for the reply, doesn't look like I'm getting a whole lot of attention with this lonely post.

Peter, I have the Pole Positions and the Taitec rails and have asked Chris to get me the Sparco brackets. If you can wait I'll let you know how it turns out.

Be aware though that the brackets will have to be mounted inside out since the Taitec rails were designed for narrower seats. That means that the Pole Position will sit more than an inch above the foor, as it needs to clear the rail and the bottom edge of the L-shaped bracket that is now protruding into the seat area instead of out as intended. Take this into account if you were counting on gaining a lot of head room.

Another side effect of mounting the brackets inside out is that the seat belt attachment brackets can no longer be used. Chris, what is your solution for that?

Do you use any harness/seatbelt? How do you mount them? I brought the 4 point harness and my shop is customizing, the base for me to use with the sparco raid, in fact, I saw a pair of bride rail/base combo they have in the shop, it apears very simple customization, with minor welding, the base mounts to the factory bolt. They even offer me to use the factory/electric rail?!?!?! I refused because I want to keep my factory chairs... anyways, I 'll be interested to see how things turn out for you guys.
