Anybody know if track cars that are not street legal require any form of DMV registration in California?

Don't believe so since a track is often times private property. Once driven on public roads it must be registered.

Check w/ your DMV. For example, in CA, you may have to register the vehicle as non operational if it's not driven on public roads. Non-op registrations are usually less than $50/yr. DMV would know for sure.

I don't believe so... But makes it a PITA if you ever wanted to try to bring it back to a street car again.

Just ask yourself is $50/year (or whatever it is) worth the huge headache you'll have if you even think about driving it on the street ever again.

I'm referring to true track-only cars that cannot be made street legal.
If they cannot be made street legal... then they cannot be registered...

FYI the Viper Competiton Coupe is considered a part number. It's not a car, dosn't have a VIN, just known as a part number -like any other part (door handle)...
