Do I need to bleed the brake after 2 months?

Hello,

My front right brake caliper is locked up again yesterday. I have had the same caliper bled about two months ago. Brake pads are still quite thick (15mm) and are EBC green stuff. Also I have steel braided brake lines and slotted and dimple brake rotor. Do I need to bleed the brake again or is there something wrong with my brake system? No dash light was on while driving. I remember the mechanic ask me to buy a brake caliper kit. What is that?

Thanks.

A caliper kit would be a rebuild kit, piston seal, boot and slide pin boots. I would say you should have your calipers (both sides) rebuilt. Your problem could be the other side caliper has a frozen piston so one caliper is trying to do the work of two so it locks up.

Thanks Brian for the reply. Is there anywhere I can order this rebuilt kit? Thanks.

You can get the parts at your dealer.

Here are the part numbers for the front brake calipers on a '91-96 NSX, and you'll need two of each, one for each caliper:

45214-SL0-003 BOOT, PISTON (36MM)
45218-SL0-003 SEAL, PISTON (40MM)
45215-SL0-003 BOOT, PISTON (40MM)
45217-SL0-003 SEAL, PISTON (36MM)

I've never bothered replacing the slide pin boots, but if you need to, you'll need four of:

45234-SM4-003 BOOT, PIN

What is involved in rebuilding calipers (besides the parts)? Any special tools required? I ask because for one car I owned, you needed compressed air to blow the piston out and into place with the new seals.

Today I manage to purchase the last two sets of the brake repair kit for the front. The shop also recommend to replace the pistons unfortunately only one piece of piston was available. Can I proceed without replacing the pistons?

You should inspect the piston for any scoring, and check the caliper body as well. I think the pistons are probably fine.

Got to replace some of the parts using the repair kit but found that the 40mm piston has some scratch. The brake work perfect after the seal replacement but a new piston will be on order.
