I've read a few posts about the various things that people have done to get the mesh boot to stay in place, but haven't been able to find pictures. I didn't get a shift knob that is made to be used with the mesh boot, so I am going to have to Macgyver something together. I am right up the street from Dali racing though, so I might stop in and see if he has a bootie clip. Does anyone know how these work? Do they thread on below the shifter? *Scratches head*

I'm thinking either get this little clip, or getting creative. I was considering getting a rubber hose and clipping it to about half an inch tall, then just force fitting it onto the shifting stalk. But even then, this can slip over time, especially as the knob starts to press down on the boot. Either that, or i might be able to turn a piece of nylon on a lathe, and just make a force fit ring. But the design of the boot is so sloppy underneath, its akward to figure out how it will stay in place.

Actually , while I have seen others have issues here , my boot came with a zip tie on it which I tightened around the shaft and never had a problem

Another option: Don't even bother trying to keep the shift boot attached to the shift knob. Just polish the shaft and leave it exposed.

Mine came with a plastic zip tie but it would stretch or work loose and eventually slide down a bit. I later resorted to using stainless safety wire, wrapped three times around the top of the mesh boot (while it is folded inside out above the knob) then twisted tight with special safety wire pliers. You have to hold the center console up above the shift knob while doing this from underneath with the mesh boot inside out. You wrap the wire about 3/4" from the small end of the boot, then fold down the wire pigtail. When you put the console back down the mesh boot folds back over itself and the wire, hiding the wire. You can get the wire tighter than a zip tie and it will not slide down.

I've had good luck with the zip tie. No issues with stretching or anything.

Yup. The ziptie seemed to do the job just fine. I put a little rubber sleeve on the shifter just in case, but it seems to hold great. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I have the Dali Gruppe N knob which came with a machined lip that holds the boot perfectly in place.

How come my mesh shift boot have 2 pinholes for a shift pattern emblem and the ones I see in the pic above don't?
