Display plastic to the left of the clock...

The other day, I got into my car (after it was detailed) to find the display plastic sitting in my lap after the first turn. This is the piece that sits directly to the left of the clock above the stereo on the dash. Underneath this piece, you can adjust the time on your clock.

On the bottom of the plastic, one of the clips is partially broken, making it so that it wont reconnect. I went in to Acura to get a replacement and they said it would cost $300 and I would have to buy an entirely new clock.

My clock is fine. I only need the $0.02 plastic piece. :)

Does anybody have one? Does anybody know how I can make mine work?

Here are two photos of the back, which shows the broken piece in detail...

Good luck.
I have been suffering from the same problem.
I will continue watching this thread to see if there is a solution.

EXCELLENT! Thank you so much. I just ordered mine, and should see it next week. Hopefully, some other people will get theirs fixed as well.

Cheers!

On your photo, it appears that the plastic clip is broken. That is what happened to mine. If so, I don’t think that simply replacing the spring will work.

doesn't it come with both? i know it isnt entirely clear, but the title of the page is "Clock Cover and Spring" if you are using IE6, so I figured it came with both. If it doesnt, I will be surprised. I will keep you posted for sure. I am more concerned that the cover will be a different color than the OEM one... we will know soon enough :)

It does say it is a cover and spring. It also says that it doesn't come with a pin. Do you still have the pin?

btw, Those are some excellent closeups. What did you use to make the pics?

yeah, i figured i would deal with the "pin" issue once the parts arrive. I was thinking that once i get this part, its up to Marin Acura to figure out how to install it (since their detailer is the likely/only possible culprit). The reason I say this is because it wasnt broken when I dropped the car off, and when I got in to take off, it fell on my lap before I left the parking lot (not something that had happened in my previous 5 drives in the car) regardless, it really isnt a big deal and i still say that the guys at Marin Acura are great. i know they will take care of me on this...

as for the pictures, you will be surprised when I tell you. I too was pleased with how they turned out. thanks for saying something.

so, i have the tiny Sony DSC-T1 camera (you know the one that was on a tv commercial where the girl snapped a photo of steven tyler)

all i did was place the part on a white sheet of printer paper, get within 3-5 inches with the macro lens feature AND flash turned on, and voila...decent high-res photos of the part. One further thing to keep in mind is that the photo I posted is approximately 1/3 of the size of the original source file taken from the camera. I took the photo at 5.0 Megapixels and sized it down to 800X600 in Photoshop for posting purposes.

Let me know if you have any further questions, and I will keep everybody up to date on the "pin" issue as it unfolds.

Cheers,
Ryan

If you can't find a replacement pin (or cost too much), you can always try buying a drill blank and cutting it to the correct length.

2 sided vecro

you can get them in a small disk or just cut to fit.

ps for the plate. go with nsxnerd :D

LOL. You would laugh if you knew me...I dont come across the same way in person that I seem to come across in the forum. After re-reading my post, I laughed about your plate suggestion. However, I think I will pass. :)

Ryan,

It would be pretty hard to find but if the plastic piece broke the pin would just fall out. Look around in the car and see if you can find it, may even still be on the clock.
