any of you guys out there ever disconnect the antennae connector in the trunk to prevent the antennae from going up...

i just installed the alpine changer in my car and since i had the trunk carpet removed i disconnected the antennae connector as well...

i have noticed that my antennae was starting to bend a bit from the wind and since i only listen to the fm band on the radio i really don't lose that much reception.

Lots of people have done it ...its an easy fix for an eye sore...and if you dont travel far from your listening area the reception is still quite good......besides that did you know there is a second antenna built into the car which helps to lock in stations which dont have as much transmitter output as others.

I installed the Alpine changer last summer. I also disconnected the antenna connector to keep it from rising. I only listen to CDs so it works well.

The product you're looking for would seem to be the SmarTenna but follow the installation instructions carefully, I managed to blow the L output on my Alpine CD changer! You'll find a thread about this in the archive.

Hey Capt. Kirk, there is a diversity antenna

built into your starship's hatch glass (top third or so) and your disconnecting the motor for the "regular" antenna was OK. ;)
