I've installed a direct air intake on my '91. the unit collects air from behind the side air duct on the left side of the car and directs it through a funnel like collector into a 3" corrigated hose to the stock air box with contains a K&N filter charger, removing the stock baffel and parts. My question is with this configuration (I assume is similar to the comptech cold air intake)can I drive the car in the rain or should I re-install the stock baffle and air intake parts first?

I have a similar setup that completely covers the open area of the side air duct and I plan on removing it for the rain. But to be more direct, I simply plan on disconnecting the pipe leading to the air box and redirecting it to the REAR of the wheel well. That I way, I don't have to reinstall all my little bits and pieces.

If you system is anything like mine, I can get my filter pretty soaked in a good rain.

I have the RM Racing cold air intake system and I've talked to Randy about driving in the rain with it and he said that there would be no problem because his system has a water baffle and unless the car was driven in deep water the water would not get up into the filter and intake.

What about cutting off the lower portion of the stock intake and routing with hose to side air vent. By leaving the resonator tube this should trap the water plus you will get the ram air? Anyone try this. What does the water baffle look like and how restrictive is it?
