hey guys are there any major exterior differences on a 96 and under nsx compared to the 97 and up models. also what about performance figures as well. sorry for asking a newbie question

One other exterior difference is that the front chin spoiler is wider on the '97+. However, since the earlier, narrower one is no longer available, that's no longer a tip-off when you see one on the street.

Yes, but those changed in '95. I thought we were only discussing appearance differences between the '96 and the '97.

I was just trying to see for instance if I bought a 91, and added a decet body kit and rims, and a nice exhaust(BPU stuff) would you be able to tell that it was an older model lets say versus a 97 to 00 model. I also noticed that some come with a black roof. WHat is the meaning of that?

If its a black roof, it is almost sure that its an older '91-'94 NSX. Newer coupes have a black roof too, but those are more rare. There are a few exceptions, one of them is the Zanardi which is a coupe with a color matched roof, and I believe u had the option to factory order a coupe with matching color roofs. In any case, I think most people will agree that if you see an NSX with a black top it will most likely be a '91-'94 NSX Coupe. If it doesn't have a black top it will most likely be a '95+ NSX-T.
