I'm still saving for mine but I have this all dreamed out. Pick up the car from the dealer/privite owner after several delays that throw my day off then eating where ever I can get a quick bite. Then off to the hotel for some good night sleep. The next day wake up at the crack of dawn where you get that cool morning light that car magazines use to shoot their pictures then hit the road towards home. Drive X amount of miles with a smile on my face and having people pass me with their kids faces pressed hard against the glass of their mommy mobile yelling COOL! I'm not in a hurry to get home beside its picture perfect today. Get home (whenever) and leave it in the driveway while I clean out the garage to make it perfect for the car's new home. The neighbors look, stare, ask questions: "Er' what is it?" Then I pull it in the garage with that little light above just highlighting the curves. I stay there all night till I fall asleap. The next day (Friday)I take care of all the BS tax title stuff then I hit the road for a long 3 day weekend.

That's my dream with a little bit of reality thrown in.

What was it like for you?

I picked mine up and the wife started bitchin about something..... oh well sometimes reality sucks............ good luck on your search they are worth all the trouble, its almost like a drug

Brought mine back in April 01 on a covered trailer, it was snowing.

Did not register the car until may. I did however look at it in the garage every so often for the first couple of months. Kind of like a mother checks in on a new born.

It was horribly, horribly hot (110+ degrees) the day I bought my car, and I had to go to work after the performing the title transfer at the DMV

It didn't turn out exactly like Marvin described, but I'm really looking forward to the next few years with my baby...it's gonna be a LONG honeymoon

now everyday is a holiday

first day my friend and I drove it a little and mostly just sat at his house in the driveway, drank some t&t's and stared at her. his wife thought we were nuts and called my wife to tell her we were nuts, but it was a really great day for both of us. when my wife saw the nsx the next day, she started to understand a little. the drive back home on day two was really incredible too.

Picked up my NSX from Dependable Auto Shippers almost 3 weeks ago. I barely had enough time to pick it up becuase I had to go out of town on business for 4 days once I came back home. Those were the longest 4 days ever knowing I had the car but could not drive it, look at it and wash it for that time.

I first saw my NSX in California as it was backed out of an enclosed trailer that came from Missouri. Having purchased it sight-unseen, all my worries quickly faded as it looked perfect. I signed some papers and drove it to the university where I was a Dept.Chair. A crowd of professors and staff came out to admire my retirement toy. A different kind of holiday, but still a holiday that I will always remember.

Mine was an awesome experience 2 days on the road from Birmingham ,Alabama all by myself w/ no significant other...although she kept calling.
The second one was recent I flew to LA w/ a friend I paid for his expenses (of course) we had a great time and went out for sushi w/ the Japanese guy that sold me the car.Great prices, great portions and "almost" went to a japanese massage parlor.
The ride home was great ,raced a few cars ,thumbs up from many etc.etc.
The purchase day is definatly a high and exillerating. www.mynsx.com

Driving home on a Sunday morning. I called my wife.
Wife: Where are you?
Me: I just picked up an NSX
Wife: you WHAT!!!
Me: I just...
Wife: YOU RETURN IT!
ME: uh, I can't do that. Hey but this one is Silv .... (click.......)

MiamieNeSeX, I feel your pain.

Not sure about the term "holiday" although I did take time off to go down to Tucson and drive it home .. 2000 miles in about 40 hours . Got to see a lot of the Western U.S. and it was great. I just refer to it as 'the road trip'.

I had insurance and an Arizona 'drive out' permit but no plates so expected to be stopped about once an hour to explain .. but made it home without being stopped once .. even had a cop pass me at 75. The Bose amps were toast but I didn't really care .. the music behind my head was better.

One look at my NSX, and I know I gotta have it, great day of my life, so happy. I remember.

I remember the day I encountered my first NSX--I had found an ad in Autotrader, and took lunch off to check the car out ('94 Brooklands Green coupe). It was an ugly day...freezing rain, lots of wind, etc.

The car looked mint, and it also looked like it had not been driven in the kind of weather that I was about to test drive it in! However, off we went (with the salesman driving).

I still remember the first time he ran the engine up the tach--the sound was unbelievable!! I looked over, and he was grinning like a madman. We drove around city streets for 10 minutes, then it was my turn. Of course, my driving experience lived up to my expectations...I was hooked.

That day (despite the conditions) is still fresh in my memory (two years ago!).

I bought two NSX's sight unseen.

The first one was a trip from hell. I think it qualifies as the most unpleasant experience in my life. I flew from PA to FL to Luxury Cars of Palm Beach to pick up this used 2001 red NSX (i really wanted yellow). I'm at the Florida airport and the origional owner got my number and calls my cell phone and tells me he still owns the car in some screwey consignment/trade deal with Luxury Cars and warns me not to buy the car because he just heard from American Honda that they are looking to reposess the car because the payments have not been made for 4 months. So now i'm thinking.. great.. i'm 1,100 miles from home.. and what am I walking into. Well.. I get to the dealer.. look at the car.. not bad. Talk to the dealership owner and say.. OK.. here is the cash.. where is the title? Guess what? no title. He wants me to pay in cash PLUS he wants to collect the PA sales tax of $4200.. says he'll send everything to me in the mail. I tell him that the Florida DMV told me its illegal for a licensed car dealer in the state of FL to sell a car for which they do not have the title. He said.. "yeah.. but everyone does it". I left.. ran out of there. couldn't get a flight out.. stayed in a Motel 6. ate my only meal of the day at 9PM at a pancake house and was so mad and disappointed that I couldn't sleep. Flew home the next day. I still hate to think about it. But.. it was a blessing in disguise.

The next day I did an internet search of new cars and a 2001 YELLOW popped up at Ralley Acura in Long Island. I called them and did the deal over the phone. A few days later I took a train up there where they met me at the station and drove me to the dealership. I think it was the fastest delivery they ever had. I gave them the money.. they gave me the keys. It was a great experience and they were a pleasure to deal with. My best memory of the experience was of the kid who drove the car up from the detail shop to the front of the building. He said that these are such special cars and he cleaned this one up specially for me. I could really see the pride in his face. And I've never seen a car so clean and shiny. Even I can't get it like that again.

Now I'm off driving the 4 hours home in a strange place in a strange car on the busy and crowded highways of NYC. I sure was nervous. As I drive I'm pushing buttons finding how things work. But it was great. Even now whenever I open the garage door I still can't believe I have one.

As they say.. I'm a happy camper!

I picked up mine on August 26, 1991. I bought it in Toronto but was about to move to Chicago so I needed a friend to co-sign the loan. EVERY Aug. 26 since then I phone him to thank him for helping me achieve my dream. BTW the first thing I did with the car was go thru a McDonalds drive thru and get an ice cream cone. I then visited my best friends and my brother. Drove it home after dark, parked in front of my home and washed it. I will never forget the day.

Actually, I had to take the day off because I had to take the train to Germany and then a taxi to the dealer that had my NSX standing by. Then, of course, I enjoyed driving it back to Holland for a couple of hours. After that, I still had to arrange the Dutch license papers and such which took me another 2.5 weeks so it wasn't until May 3rd 16:30 hours before I finally had the car officially on my name. And it wasn't until then that I informed other people I had actually bought my dreamcar. And people at work had to wait an additional two weeks before I surprised them.

I really hope you gave him a good tip. That would have been a special day for him too!
