I was browsing at some NSX's for my dad in toronto (online) and found an NSX with this:

ACURA” CUSTOM “NSX” FACTORY-FITTED LUGGAGE!! ($5,000 OPTION)

Has anyone heard of this? Is it a canadian option only? I have never seen it before.

From the NSXprime FAQ under memorabilia, "Luggage: four piece nested set, Michele Clo, Firenze Italy. Consists of: portfolio, attache, weekender/2-suiter ($1,145), and (I forget the name of the fourth). The "set" consisted of the last three only, which have also been available separately."

The others already answered the question.

2 years ago we embarked on a similar endavor to provide customized leather luggage but had a total of only 4 interested parties so it became quite cost prohibitive. Being one that does not give up easiliy, especially if I want one for my NSX, I searched various catalogues (hartmann, etc., ...)

I finally found two matching high quality black leather carry-ons (with reinforced edges, discretely tucked telescopic handle, many pockets) that fit the trunk to an absolute T; one 26" laying horizontally on the right (with CD player in place), and the other 22" laying vertically in the spare tire. The set comes with matching briefcases also and can be squeezed on the left fender pocket area depending on style.

All three pieces have an area for embossing them with NSX logo. I have even researched making the NSX plates for embossing.

If you want PICS, private me as I cannot upload. I still can find a few of these now and then but not always in a set; I know the 26" is currently available ....

Cheers,

The three-piece set originally listed for $2500, not $5000. There are sets out there and from time to time you'll see a set or individual pieces go up on eBay. About a month ago the large piece sold for around $315 which is an incredible bargain.

I got that piece Ken. It's a good sized, half round bag. One down, two to go. The seller included a cd given to new RSX owners that has a tach silk screened on the cover. Nice tunes too.

Yes I've seen that complete kit listed (resale) for 1,200.00..
Im too cheap to buy that "not that its not worth it"just not to me.Plus too many mods and no more room.

For some reason the NSX luggage never appealed to me. I'm sure it's of high-quality and nicely made, but it just didn't fit the high-tech nature of the car.

I would have expected something on the order of a special set of Zero Halliburton cases.

The NSX luggage looks like it would be more at home in a Jaguar or some car with a burled walnut dashboard.

Maybe they shouldn't have put leather seats in the interior, either.

For those who have never seen the NSX luggage in person, it's very, very classy. (And unlike the seats, the luggage even smells like leather.)

Ok, ok, ok, ........... back to regular programming here, who can upload pictures to NSXPrime, I have the "functional" compromise and will spray leather freshner to enhance the smell further ......... LOL!

No, I think the seats are fine the way they are.

I think the NSX luggage is VERY nice but like Jimbo I'm not sure I feel the it fits with the high-tech flavor of the car. I think the Jacob Jensen stuff (clock, watch, etc.) was more in keeping with that aspect of the car's design.

Then again to be honest I wouldn't really like the aluminum luggage Jimbo linked to either <g> No offense, it's just one of those personal taste issues. Plus aluminum luggage would bang against the trunk lid.

Lud,

Yes, the bouncing around and scratching thing would be an issue that would have had to been addressed. Perhaps a pad that would have separated the units and protected them.

In any case, as you point out it's just a matter of personal taste and opinion.

A little off topic but I'm actually in the market for some luggage and have absolutely no experience in this area. Any advice on any type of little things I should look out for to pick out quality from crap? I've set aside a budget of around 1200 but if there is something I just have to have I'll probably succumb and pay up. Carry-ons, briefcase, etc. Not quite interested in whole sets if that's possible. And in this case I'm looking more for quality/durability/style rather than name recognition. Thanks!

For around 1200 and room to succumb further, I can do wonders for you .....

Ok, seriously, you first have to decide on style and fabric/material then go from there with any reputable name to have the warranty in place.

If you want a carry on like the PICS show, with telescopic handles and wheels, etc., your options are endless ...... do you want leather (like mine ..... mostly for surface traveling in "$tyle" ..... and fits the NSX to a T), or Denier for taking on the plane (the higher the number the more durable - look for 1200 or higher) you can even go ballistic material .......... the non-leather come in assortments of colors some with black and red accents .......

If you opt for more casual luggage, like different sizes of duffle bags etc., then that is an entirely different look and again you have options from high end soft leather, to your local leather store, to again Denier, etc, ....

Good luck.
