OK, I am hoping someone can quickly shed some light for me on this subject, and hoping to get input from several knowledgable people on this one. I have a GenII Downforce CF hood. What should I tell the body shop as far as painting goes? I know that some CF parts have had the weave show after a while as the CF/resin has soaked up some of the paint. Pbassjo has been very helpful to me and shed some light on the subject. I don't know what formula changes have happened in the clearcoat recently at Downforce. I am making this a public thread as I am sure many would be interested.

Is there a particular thing the body shop needs to do to get a good smooth long lasting finish on these parts?

Thanks.

I painted all my cf parts and I find it kind of cool to see the faint cf weaves after a while.

Henry is the hood still nice and glossy? So the weave shows only faintly?

It's not easy to paint cf. Need to prep the surface real well for a smoothness.

Glossy or dull, all depends on how often you wash and wax your car ;)

For mine, you can only tell at a certain angle under sunlight and that's exactly the way I like it.
