Defroster not blowing to windshield

Started my car tonight after jumping it since battery went dead while sitting. It idled a good long time. It's getting very chilly here at night now & I wanted to defrost the windshield. Hit defrost button & plenty of hot air blowing from door vents, no air at all at base of windshield. I cycled thru the various air ducting settings & it blows, but not from base of windshield on any settings. Any ideas where to start & please tell me this doesn't involve removing the dashboard. I spent almost all day ripping out headliner & moonroof on my Subaru to replace defective caulk that lets lots of water in. I'm beat.

I will run it tmrw. It's cold & dark here now. Do I need to warm the car up 1st, or just do it? Am I paying more attention to the second procedure or the 1st one?

Is the motor likely to be bad & circuit board is bad or motor ok but not getting signal due to circuit board acting up? If it is the motor, is it accessible to human hands or will I be ripping stuff apart again? Is the motor repairable? (good cleaning or replace a broken contact or something?) I'm really getting sick of cars. Have to wait for it to rain this wknd (3 more days of rain, ca-ca!) :frown: to see if I got the Subaru leak fixed or not. Thank you for helping.

For reasons I'll probably never know, putting a new battery in the car gave me back my defroster vents. They blow fine now. Must have been a voltage-CCU lovers quarrel. Thanks Brian.
