I was talking to Bob Leonti at Comptech today, and he shared with me some good news to all you "boy racers" out there.

They have started a new section on their NSX products web page for NSX Race Parts. These are items which are intended for use on track cars and are generally sold by Comptech directly to the user and thus do not carry the regular retail markup when passed through dealers or other motorsport vendors -- so, the price is lower !!! From time to time they will be adding new products to this special section. And if there is strong interest in some other "boy racer" products, you may want to whisper in Bob's ear to see if he can use his magic wand and have them show up on that page ...........

Please direct your comments to Bob directly, and tell him that you were referred by this e-mail ...... gives us an opportunity to squeeze the juice a little more if you get my drift .......... LOL!

For those of you who have not visited our we page at www.nsxpo.com , please note that Comptech is a sponsor of NSXPO 2003 and has donated a Supercharger for auction.

Cheers, .......... ;)

Well, the non-compliance rear beam/toe link kit are quite a bit cheaper than they were when I bought them through the prior retail channel, so this is definitely a good thing!

Front Non Compliance Clamp

So, this Front Non Compliance Clamp looks new. Anybody got one or anything similar? Since it does not allow the factory compliance link to flex, this defeats the intended purpose of the factory design which I think was to help maintain the contact patch when hitting some irregularity in the road (or heavy braking in a straight line?).

I should think this question through, but I'll just throw it out there and let you point out the obvious.

They look pretty good, but what's the tradeoff? Will they make the ride noticably harsher on the street over normal minor potholes and irregularities? Or will it just lose some of the handling forgiveness of the front suspension which would be OK with track junkies? (of which I'm not one ;) )

Ted

PS: Thanks Bob, a discount for signing a waiver.........I like it.

Yo Ted, did you read the application for these NSX Race Parts ......
Here:

All products in this section are RACE ONLY and hold no warranty written or implied.
FOR OFFROAD USE ONLY! NOT LEGAL FOR USE ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS.

Did they MOVE some parts from the "consumer retail" side to the "racer" side, or are they offering different items ??

Is the same stuff now sold at different price points, albeit with more disclaimers (non-street-legal, etc) on the "race" side??

Seems like there are MORE offerings on the race side, particularly in the suspension/chassis and engine tuning areas. Good to see the "bling-bling" stuff stays where it should :)

##############

Are these "sole source" items, or are other Comptech distributors/dealers (SoS, AoB, etc) also planning to offer some of these parts ??

Hrant -- is there a plan to offer similar products for other Honda/Acura lines (S2K/ITR), and can we leverage the "word of mouth" from NSX Prime, generate more interest/demand, and still get more "traction" with Bob Leonti and his folks?

Definition of street legal

All products in this section are RACE ONLY and hold no warranty written or implied.

 Hrant, you know me better than that. Hanging around with you, of course I read and digested, dissected, and debated every syllable of the disclaimer.

And then I concluded that, I'll not drive my "Race Only" (yeah right) car on the street when you put a front license plate on yours! :p

Don't make me drag Big Al into this!!

I can't speak for the other brands; I would think the other lines are too new to promote such items but then there are quite a few of them on the track as well so perhaps they may .........

Like any vendor, Bob at Comptech will be all smiles when products move, and word of mouth is the best and cheapest marketing venue ............. go for it but make sure they give you/NSX community kudos when they call Bob ..........

I just want to see his moustache when the calls come flooding in ......

And as for you racer boy Ted, there will be no soup tonight ........... LOL!

Ted,

I ran them on the OTC car, and on my street car with no ill-effect. I noticed the car wandered a bit more on highways with uneven surfaces.

Andrie, just curious, was the wandering on the highway accentuated because of your aggressive track alignment.

Any others with feedback regarding how the clamps may affect street driving?

TIA

I noticed a bit of "wandering" with clamp. A bit more wandering when more toe out was dialed in. Didn't notice any degradation in ride quality though. With big front tires, 235-245, it does rub against the tire at full lock.

Hi Shawn, thanks for the quick post. Actually I read your similar post elsewhere when I did a search and noticed the wider tire issue.

When you say more toe out for the fronts, what is your toe meausrement, are you within manufacturer's alignment specs +/- range?

My front toe - if it hasn't change since mid 2002, is -0.06 on the left and -0.05 on the right for total -0.11 degrees. The range is -0.12 to -0.08 so I guess I am on the more aggressive range but within the specs. Camber is -1.1 and -1.2. Caster is 8.3 and 8.5.

The rears are 0.07 left and 0.07 on the right, for a total 0.14; OEM range is 0.12 to 0.16 and I may go to 0.16 next time; my tires wear in the center more than on the inside and this running at 36 psi. Camber is -1.7 and -1.9 degrees

TIA

Hey no worries. Happy to help.

I'm trying some alignment specs I received from Andrie. Here they are verbatim:

"Camber -2.5 deg or max -3 deg
Toe 6-7mm total toe out 4mm total toe-in
caster max, I got mine at 10 deg"

Keep in mind, though, that my intention is for maximum performance and not maximum tire longevity. Camber is -2.5 deg on every corner - the max I could get it to. I'll most likey be tweaking the alignment again whenever I install the Comptech bushings that allow -4 camber up front.
