My sister called me today asking me if I know anyone working as a debt collector. Her business got some bad checks. Any suggestion or input?

Me and Joey Bagadonuts been known to collect a few debts. Sometimes you gotta hurts em.
I never have had good luck, it may be that all of the amounts I turn over to a collection agency are usually less than $500.

i pretty much handle suits thru small claims, then toss recalitrant accounts to greenflag/transworld. they are relentless, costs about 15$ to post an account to the gentle touch portion of their work[ you get 100% return on that...]. phase two is more involved, letters/calls/lawyers, and then they get 50%.
it still pays though. deadbeats should be beatendead, what can i say. i hate losers like that, & greenflag/transworld works . what have you got to lose??

It all depends on the state that the bad check is issued in. In Florida the person who writes a bad check can be charged with a felony. I've turned bad checks over to the Sheriff's department and they issue a warrant. Unfortunately, most of the deadbeats that write bad checks usually leave the state before they get caught.

I USED to use these guys as well. They indeed are relentless. But be carefull! Once it hits phase 2, you have to pay 50% even IF they dont collect! 
So if you submit for 1000k, if it goes into phase 2, you have to pay $500 even if it goes uncollected. Thats how I know they are relentless.

read my contracts, and asked them again today...they only wack you on the 50% they collect.
as an added bonus, i have clients sign an agreement that they are liable for all charges incurred by me to secure a/r.... people do have their limit at the tables...this is another built-in incentive for bad debt.
but some accounts will sour, no matter what...they are the bottomfeeders
