Dealer Install of Dali Window Fix-it Thingies

Has anyone gotten a dealer to install the
Dali Window Fix-it Thingies and if so how?

I have contacted at least three dealers
in the New England area (Acura of Peabody,
Acura of Boston, and Clair Acura) and
they all refuse to do the work because
it is not an Acura OEM part.

HELP!!

I might actually have to do the install myself...

Are there any other shops in the area which have good mechanics but are not necessarily Acura dealers? Removing the door panel is not very hard, and since the Dali fix-it thingy is not an OEM part the dealer won't have any more experience installing one than any other mechanic.

I'm looking into it now.. I might bring
it to a friends garage for the work

Yes. I went to my regular dealer, and asked them to do it. And they did it.

Granted, my dealer is very customer service oriented, which is why they keep winning Acura's Precision Team award each year. When I tell them I want something a bit different, like the original alignment specs, they're usually happy to accommodate. On rare occasions, they express a concern, like that they won't warranty the work and they're not responsible if the part breaks or causes another problem, stuff like that. But I reassure them that I won't hold them responsible. It's been a very positive relationship for both sides.

BTW, after the tech installed the thingies, he told me that he wasn't sure going in exactly how they would fit and work, but afterwards he thought they were really a cool idea.

How much did the dealer charge to install your Thingies?

Niello Acura in Sacramento charges $160 per side to install the thingies...limo shuttle to the mall while you wait...

I don't remember exactly; I think it was an hour to an hour and a half per side, and they charge around $75/hour.

Definitely a bargain compared with the prospect of replacing the regulator. The regulator on each side costs around $400-500.
