Daytime Running Lights

The Canadian daytime running lights are not the same as the factory foglights. The Canadian lights are so weak that they are pretty much useless.

Is it just the bulb or is the whole light different?

Does anyone have any photos?

In Australia, we have the European spec NSX's that come with the factory fog lights that have a 55watt globe in them... I thought they looked the same as the Canadian ones but I would not bet any of my anatomy on it...

I don't understand what you want the DRLs to do. They are there so other drivers can see you. They work as intended.

These DRLs are completely different from what we have as fog lights. See some pics here .

I am speaking in context of them compared to the JDM foglights since the other lister confused them with the OEM fogs. The DRL are low wattage light just like the parking lights so will not give any additional illumination hence my "useless" comment. Of course, they are just DRL.

I assume you are tired of the headlights always being up and on.
The US model NSX do not come with DRLs, or the nice square fog lights the rest of the world NSX have, so some US owners have wired in small fog lights. I'm not sure how these lights work or where they are powered from but it can be done.
The Canadian DRLs cost $800 for the pair.

NSX-Racer, thanks for that... Yes they are definetly different! I really didn't notice the difference before!

saint2709 I understand what you want to do now. I agree with you! Get it back to original! Sorry I can't help with this one but good luck!

It sounds like whereever the car had it's RIV inspection done installed a fairly standard aftermarket DRL module. Have a look under the hood near the headlights (Or under the dash near the fusebox) and see if you can find a fairly obvious box about the size of a pack of cigarettes, with some wiring spliced into the headlight wires. They usually have markings on the case indicating that's it a running light module. Carefully remove said box and it's wiring, and you'll be good to go.

However, having no DRLs is illegal in Canada, so do so at your own legal risk

remove the wiring that is activating the head lights and wire it to the marker lights instead. drl just needs to be 2 lights on the front of the vehicle. it doesn't have to be the head lights.

What are the marker lights? In the USA it is illegal to drive with the parking lights on. Although my other car has the parking lights on at all times, I don't think the NSX has the parking lights on or even the taillights on in the daytime, it should for safety.
I tried to find the Transport Canada rules on DRLs but I can't find them.
I know Americans hate DRLs thanks to crappy cars that use reduced power highbeams to blind you. Canadian DRLs are limited to 1500 candelas and they go out when you turn on the headlights.

I was reading comments about DRLs on Autoweek forums.
It was in a post from MN. I think Federal laws trump State laws so maybe it's not valid.
