Days of Tremblant 2006?

By now most of you probably know that we were not awarded NSXPO for either 2007 or 2008. The planning committee is very dissapointed, and somewhat confused with how things have unfolded, but it is what it is.

You also know that we are extremely keen to put together our own chapter of NSXCA. We will put our thoughts together in the near future as to its structure (sub chapter of North East, our own chapter for Ontario or Canada, etc...) and we will get back to those who may be interested. We will move forward on this soonish and our first event looks like it will be a kickoff drive (details yet to be decided). It will be great to see everyone again.

BUT, Tremblant is just too amazing to ignore. The track is awesome, but its surroundings are out of this world. We must not forget this gem and we must not let our opportunity to enjoy it pass with our unsuccessful NSXPO proposal. Mosport, which is very close to many of us, is a very interesting track as well, but the experience of holding an event at Mosport cannot and would not, in any way, compare to holding one at Tremblant.

Some of us are thinking about putting together time at Tremblant anyways. We are not sure which format would work best (our own two days? piggy back on BMW?) but some of the thoughts that we have batted around suggest two days on the track and maybe a day or two for social stuff; it is all very preliminary.

Because this will be a much smaller scale than NSXPO would have been, we can, if we like, probably do this this year.

It would be informative and may help to move forward if we were to get an idea about how many people would be interested in this.

If we have 10 cars, we need to piggy back on someone elses day. We would still all stay in the same place and have fun stuff to do, but we couldnt get the track for a couple days (affordably) with 10 ish cars. If we have 25 cars, then we may just be able to do that!

Track info to be found here: http://www.lecircuit.com/en/

Who is in for an event at Tremblant?

It is not likely to be inexpensive as most hotels are in the $250/day range and the track is expensive too. I would figure that we would be looking at $800 to $1000 for two track days plus $1000 for accomodation for 4 nights and of course food and gas and other incidentals, including potentially parking at the hotel. Those track prices assume 25 cars on our own day and they are certainly not firm. It could be slightly more.

Not cheap, but it would be awesome. I would consider it a great opportunity to drive on a track that you may never get to enjoy and a fun vacation with a group of others. If this fits your bill, post here to give us an idea if we can or cannot have our own days on the track.

If that is just too much money, tell us. If you would prefer a single day, or two days, at Mosport where we drive our asses off during the day and go home and tell the wives how awesome it was at the end of each, tell us that too. My experience with Mosport is that most days run $400ish, so we are looking at significantly less money; a different experience, but let us know if you'd rather do that instead of an organized Tremblant event.

Personally, Im going to make it a mission to get up to Tremblant this year. Id love it if many of you were as excited about it as the planning committee is.

Dave

I know Ferrari Club is looking to do some two day events, but can't afford it on their own - perhaps we should check to see what they're thinking and join them, they do a Tremblant event including social stuff.

I'll talk to Denis Sakamoto if you like?

Your best bet is to piggy-back on someone else's event...BMW, PCA, FCA, etc. I'd be shocked to death if you got just 10 NSX to commit to going to LCMT. If you're really really and I mean REALLY lucky, as in golden horseshoe up you know where lucky, you might get 6-8 tops (ie, local ON and QC owners). I'll be at Le Circuit with the BMW-Trillium Chapter on July 7th -9th.

We will be there with the BMW-Boston/Quebec annual track weekend in mid August (not with an NSX unfortunately, as I'm still looking for one to purchase).

Accommodations can be gotten for around $125/night and the track is indeed awesome.

As your group is small, why not just join up and run with the BMW event in August. I think they still have room and the cost is under $600 Cdn for the two days. Seeing a group of NSX cars would be wonderful.

Who can possibly attend the July 7-9th Trillium event that Rui is talking about?

Im going to be up there the weekend prior anyways, maybe Ill kick around and join this group on the track later in the week.

Who else is possibly in? If we can get a few yes', Ill spend a bit of time on a more comitted effort.

Arshad? Sean? Stu?

It would be awesome to get a bunch of cars out.

I'm seriously looking at the July event. A friend (former NSX owner) recently traded his GT3 for a F360 and we're looking to hook up there. I am just waiting on dates for a friend's wedding, and if I'm in the clear I'm there.

I think piggybacking the BMW event is a great idea. It would cost:

BMW Club membership $50
3 track days w instruction at Tremblant $400 (fantastic deal, 1 day at Dexter Motorsport at Mosport cost me nearly $500 with instruction last year)

They are arranging affordable lodging to. Looks like a no brainer.

Please resubmit for NSXPO 2009. I agree, Tremblant would be a great place for NSXPO and the Northeast would be due:biggrin:

We would have in a second, but the letter we received from NSXCA really steered us away from a resubmission for Tremblant. The board feels that it's not viable, ie not enough people would go. They recommended we do a Toronto / Mosport venue.

Our thought is, if we can make a mini-meet viable and succeed then a resubmission may be more credible. But if we can't get interest, for David's idea here, then they may just be right.

OK - we are at 3 cars for Trillium. I need to figure out how my car is getting down there though! Is everyone driving theirs?

I ask because Ive got a family and a minivan that I need to get to Tremblant also. Maybe I will put a hitch on the van and trailer my car down?

Com'mon Sean, you know we are not wrong.

Piggybacking on a BMW event is totally different than an NSXPO.

Funny ... I'm doing the exact same thing (family & mini van that is). I was actually planning on staying a few extra days and hooking up with the Porsche club NER http://porschenet.com/ . They have the track booked for the 3 days following the BMW event (July 10-12). That makes the drive worth while.

Once this firms up a bit, we could do a letter or flyer up and have the NSXCA send it out to the North Eastern Chapter, like Bridgewater does every year.

I'm still waiting on the details of a wedding. If I don't hear soon, I'll book Tremblant and let them know.

Sean! Don't tell me your Ol'lady's dad is looking for the shot gun again!

I'm sorry I can't come - my wifes b-day is the 6th, I'll be sooooo hung over driving isn't gonna work, besides, leaving early from the party I'll be throwing her to drive to tremblant....perhaps she'll be borrowing Sean's new father in law's shot gun!

Don't worry boys, it's not my wedding, I'd know better than to schedule it during the playoffs or on a track day!

Looks like I'm in!!! (my wife said it's ok).

Anyone know if there's still room in the Trillium weekend? I've sent my registration in, but haven't heard back in a week.

Also, do you guys know how big the run groups will be? I'm inviting a friend who is concerned that the track may be too busy.

They usually send out (via e-mail) a confirmation notice about 2 weeks before the event. They are probably too busy now (this week) preparing for the Mosport school this weekend. Not sure about LCMT, but at Mosport they typically cap the run groups to about 25 cars per group.

I registered today, so there is still space available it seems. Hope to see some of you there!
