Anyone want to guess what this C5Z06 redlines at? Danny isn't talking and he will only tell you that it's making North of 650hp.

Now that is super fast!!! I got an adrenaline rush just watching him drive like there's no tomorrow. Now I'm all pumped up for the beginning of track season.

An oldie but goody from Mid Ohio.... the car isn't just fast, Danny is fast!

BTW: Danny runs about 12 seconds a lap faster than me at MO. :(

it's quite insane how fast he is. Last race I saw him (at VIR) during a 20 min race, he was less than 1 minute away from lapping the 2nd place ferrari in his class...

quite talented in that beast of his

bloody hell is he fast in that thing! interestingly, his gearing seems very similar to a five speed nsx, you hardly ever see cars using second gear in all the spots that he does (turns 1, 4, 12, and 14) unless they have an old four speed box.

wow... its like you cant stop watching...lol

He even reels them in when correcting his line...

thanks for the post Jim

Here is one more with trackvision.... Danny "guest driving" the Pfadt Racing C6Z @ Miller Motorsports.

That dude can drive...Car sounds sweet !

OK, first thing Danny needs to go back to kindergarten and learn how to share. All I see is him passing and no one going past him.

My guess on the rpm in his C5 is over 8K. Watching him in the C6 the max I saw was around 6800 and that sounded like a diesel compared to his car at VIR.

It’s to bad those old push rod V8’s can’t turn any rpm or make power. Harr harr harr. (that’s my poorly imitated pirate laugh)

About 10'10" in he nails a complex beautifully. He's definately on the ragged edge always.

I mean this with the utmost respect-- why isn't he playing in a bigger sandbox? Something like Grand-Am or World Challenge would seem to suit his talent a little better than NASA. No offense meant as NASA is my sandbox, but I'm just a little fella'.

I think, and this just my personal opinion, that Danny has made the choice to put his family over his driving. He doesn't want the "on the road lifestyle" that it would take to go Pro at any level.

He works at McClusky Chevrolet in Cincinnati and they gave him his own little fiefdom in the back where he comes and goes as he pleases and just works on Corvettes. I think he is content where he is and like I said, doesn't want to chase the dream.

FYI: I saw him run at 1:10.0 at Putnam last spring and heard that in Oct he bettered it with a 1:09.2! :)

Just came across Danny's NASA record lap time at VIR from last July (full course) 1:55.056 in TTU class.

I'd say that's moving.

last year i rode shotgun a few times in an ultima gtr, i think it was about 475 hp and 2500 lbs. we were turning 2:05s and hitting 165 mph on the back straight. i can't imagine knocking ten seconds off that pace.

Good point..often in the hpde world there are so many mediocre drivers that the "good" driver feels real fast because he is passing all day....but if you can compare your lap times to racers or local "hot shoes" you are humbled quickly.Last time I was at an event with Kip Olson at sebring I was working hard learning the track and feeling pretty good by end of day two....then I compared times to Kip in his then supercharged car( before his new turbo) and he was roughly 15 seconds a lap quicker:eek: So I'll keep my day job..

That guy looks like he's on the frenetic edge every second. I think if it were me, I would have crashed several times and took out a few as well. ;) Great driving...and I'm sure I'm not seeing all of the finer points too.

This x2. A guy in a Viper (which are notoriously awful at my local track) came over from California, and when I thought I was doing well to break the 1:30 mark, did a 1:18 w/ no aero. RIP Paul Mumford. Great guy great driver.

Part 2 of the VIR race above....
