Can anyone who has installed these tell me how difficult it actually is. Do I need 2 people to make this install go easier. I,m a pretty good mechanic. Give me a clue, because reading the online Dali instructions seems a little confusing to me. Thanks, bjnz.

I did them a couple of weeks ago. The first one was a pain. I also could only find a pair of pliers to cut the groove in. Big mistake. As soon as I tried the pliers I knew they would not work. The offset of the jaws on channel locks make a huge difference. So I went to the store and bought a cheap pair of channel locks and cut grooves in them. The channel locks give you more control. I also had someone help me push down on the window a little bit, this helped tremendously. Check the little black plastic pieces that run in the track that holds the window in place. Mine are broken and this was the problem with the decreased speed in which my window goes up and down. I have not fixed them yet, but plan to soon. Let me know if yours are ok as I am wondering if it is a common problem.

Me and a friend of mine installed them on both of our NSX's. It was not that hard with two people and the use of a vice to hold the regulator. The hard part was to releace the tension on the cable while removeing the end from the cable holder, this is where the other person and vice come in handy. The instructions that came with the new holder were very helpful, let me know if you need a copy and I will fax one to you.
Good luck.

There is a tool available (channel lock w/groove) that is circulating around the NSXCA for this purpose. There is NO NEED to take the regulator out of the door. It can be done in about 15 minutes per door. There is a write up here on NSXPrime for the procedure. I did this with the tool and it was easy.

I suggest you post a request for it to the "big list", find out who has it and when it is available next. The rule we established was if you got the tool in the mail, you have to be able to send to the next person within a week or so. It has worked out very well, and using the method of doing it in the door, makes it a breeze.

If you have a detailed questions let me know.

My passenger window "Dropped" last night. I opened up the door today and the window regulator thingie has lost the top cable connection. My problem is that the exposed cable appears to have wound back into the end of the plastic cable guide and I can not get it to come out. I tried the window switch, but nothing happens.

I would also like to know if someone can mail me the special tool to put this back together once I get the Dali Window Thingie.

Thanks,

John

John,

I don't know if your regulator is repairable at this stage. I think once it has snapped, it is finished.

John,

If you DID NOT try to move the window by electric power, you may be able to salvage it.

The first reaction is to usually hit thge switch though

If you did not take the inside door cover off and see what went wrong. You may be able to install the "thingies".

I made a tool a while back and shipped it to NSX listserve members with the understanding that each person would post when they were done and pass it on (shipping to your door included). Post to the list and it should come up.

If not - all you need is a cheap pair of channel lock pliers and a dremal tool. Cut a V into the top and bottom of the pliers.

Write me if you need any help and I would be glad to walk you through it - or post and have someone send it to you.

OK, so I ripped apart the regulator motor and the cable is kinked to death, the spring seems to have sprung, etc - etc. Can anyone recommend a place to get a new regulator assembly for a resonable price?

Thanks,

John

Call Eric Milam in the parts department at Niello Acura in Sacramento, 800-350-2299 or 916-334-6300. Tell him that you're a member of the NSX Club of America (which you are) and he'll give you a great price. Maybe not cheap, but a decent discount off the list price of $350 or $400 or something like that.
