After putting my car on the street in about 45 days (I will probably start a separate thread again, after the bestselling "Storing the car during the Winter for Dummies"

) I will go for a major serivce.

I was planning to have the fix-it thingies installed since my door panel will be opened to fix the broken door handle - that did break the very last day before the winter sleep.

My question: now my driver window opens quite slowly. Will the fix-it stuff improve the situation or will it "freeze" the degrading of speed (not slower/not faster and most important no electric motor failure...)?

I bought the fix-it thingies 2 years ago... talk about slow implementation time!

Lubricate the regulator and window guide tracks. If you're going to take your door apart for some reason it's a quick and easy thing to do while you're in there. From Service Bulletin, 93-004 "Use High Temp Urea Grease part # 08798-9002 all around the white plastic spool and on both sides of the glass mounting plate."

Slingshot is right.

A slow window mechanism could be caused by inadequate lubrication or by the cable binding on the clip, which means the clip could be about to break (what the fix-it thingies prevent). Regardless of which is causing it, it's a good idea to lubricate it when you open it to install the fix-it thingies. That should cure it either way.

Gheba,

If I were you, I wouldn't exercise the windows at all until I installed the "thingies." It's like playing Russian Roulette. If your car was like mine, you'll have no prior warning either.

Particularly when it's cold. The added friction of the thick, old grease puts more load on the weak parts.

They will break and then you have to replace the entire regulator.

Jimbo, thanks for the advide but "no problem"... the car is sleeping and the first place I will drive to in Spring is to the mechanic!

BTW, with the luck I have had with my NSXs it could break when I open the window to use the magnetic card that allows me to enter/exit the garage!

The slow window is a problem in any year NSX.
I thought my 91 had a slow window until I tried to put the window up in a 94 that had a very slow window. My driver's window is lowered every time I use the car and it hasn't broken yet. It will probably break this year along with the timing belt. Stay tuned.

Wouldn't you rather install the $15 window fix-it thingies before it breaks, rather than waiting till it breaks and having to buy a new regulator for $350 per side?

Re-read Tony Montoya's post. As I understand it, he owns a '91, and he tried someone else's '94.

Many have relubed the tracks only to find the same slow up and down performance. If the motors are in decent shape, the tracks may need to be realigned. I've done this on a couple cars to solve the problem. The process is explained in the shop guide.

Cheers,
