Thanks Larry....

I have reviwed the online manual, but can't figure out how the boot band lock in place? I can see that there are 2 clips, but they can't be the ones that hold the band tight.

Hi

Getting the bands tight enough is a PIA. There is a special band tool you could get. Larry ofcourse knows the partnumber for the tool as he is the king of part numbers

When I had a boot and CV go bad I paid a shop to change the parts. I got the bands as tight as I had too and I did not pay that much.

So CV/boot change DIY: Go to shop. Help them to get the NSX up on the lift. Watch as they change the CV/boot. Pay bill. Drive off.

Regards

Would someone please explain how to remove and reinstall the original large inboard boot band?

I can't figure out how it locks in place.

Thanks.

Each band has two sets of tangs, they bend over into the center of the band, like a "C", with the opening in the center of the band. I use a small flatblade screwdriver to pry them open, then remove the band.

thanks Larry.

So the same tangs also lock the band in place for reinstallation? If that is the case, I would guess that the tightness of the band is not adjustable as the tangs lock on the same spot on the band.

Thanks.

The replacement bands are very different then the original bands. I would not reuse the old bands, get the tool above and use the new bands.
