Anyone have any suggestions on where I can get my Titanium NSX key cut? The Dealer won't do it. I figured someone else has done this before and can recommend a good place to do it, that can cut the key to the key code specs...

Thanks in advance.

I tried to do this myself at 3 different key places.

2 out right refused because I told them how much the key cost and they didn't want to risk screwing it up.

1 said that they would do it if I signed a waiver that I would not kill them if they botched the key.

Let me know if you are interested in the location.. they are in Tustin.

osh hardware has an equipment where they put both keys in the machine, press a button, and BAM......you are done!!!!

on brookhurst between warner and slater.

The 2 key makers that refused to cut my key used this as well, and informed me that there is no guarantee that the key would work.

(Something to do with using a worn original key to cut a new key.. blah, blah, blah)

If you don't tell them that the blank is $100, they probably will cut it for you.. and you take your chances. If you tell them "Please don't wack out my key or be extra careful because the blank is $100 bucks, you will probably get the reactions that I did.

each time they cut an NSX 'titanium' key, the disc gets ruined.
and its a 60 dollar disc they have to replace each time to cut a new key.
when will they learn to use a diamond cutter?

i horded a couple of titanium keys from the SCA dealer yesterday. better hurry because they only have one left at South Coast Acura.

OSH messed up my first key when they didn't insert the blank all the way in. They felt bad and didn't charge me the dollar something or other to cut it. Little did they know that they messed up a $100 key. :p

I'm surprised the Dealership won't cut it. I got two of mine cut at the same dealership back-to-back; they used my VIN to cut the correct pattern (no "worn key" issues). Both of them work flawlessly. Good luck!

Old thread but if anyone was wondering Kearny Mesa Cush Acura in San Diego cut a new one for me today.

I'm with Erin, I went to Tempe Acura, handed them my key and a copy of my registration, and they cut it in 5 minutes. I bought it from the Acura of Escondidio Ebay store. No problems. The dealership should cut it without reservation by VIN...

the key is not real titanium, so it won't ruin any cutters. its just metal coated with special titanium 'like' paint. after a while of usage and abuse and the paint wears off, its just a metal key. when you tell the locksmith its titanium, they freak out and refuse to do it.

you can take it to any key place and get it done. i took it to one of those drive-thru key places.

just tell the key cutters the key is made out of adamantium.
i mean monel, and not Ti.

the weight is a dead give away. its too heavy to be titanium.
the 300zx is real titanium, and it is so light is unbelievable. like ray's duralumin lugnuts.
