custom magnaflow exhaust clip on 91 NA1

I had a custom 2.5" exhaust made for my 91 nsx with stock headers and cat. I used a magnaflow 12468 tru-x muffler.
My muffler guy installed the 2 intake tubes across each other he claims it was better this way.

I was wondering if the way the intake and exits are ok the way they are. The reason I am asking is because I've seen intake and exit setup accross each other.
