CTSC S2000 Discussion

It puts more power to the ground then a stock NSX, but it would prolly still be a driver' s race with a NA2 NSX.

There's a little room for improvement, too. I have two friends with Comptech kits both with well over 350whp. And one of them is getting ready for 400+

That's a nice S2000 you've got there. Very tasteful mods. You must've traded some organs for that exhaust. :D

Very nice S2k. How is the power delivery with the supercharger? Is still linear? How much torque does it create?

Thanks Dave.

The power delivery is much like stock, especially in the <5000rpm range.
But when VTEC kicks in it screams. Not sure on the exact torque.

Hmm, it seems the season for dumping CTSC'ed S2000s. :) I had a J's hood too, but I just sold it.

Mine is here:

And the dyno plots/pictures are over here:
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=336276

If you look at the dyno plot you can see the torque gradually increases with the blower and there's a surge just before 6k which gives you a nice kick in the back. Torque wise as SC'ed S2k still makes less than a stock NSX.

The HP numbers I had were 197rwhp before and 268rwhp after on the S2k. If I remember correctly my NSX put down 259rwhp with DC headers, K&N intake, and Dali exhaust.

The S2k is fast as hell provided you are not at a standstill. Below 3k you would think you were in a Civic. :)

Handling wise I feel that it's much stiffer than the stock NSX yet more forgiving when you enter a turn too quickly. On the flip side I still can't get over how good the NSX steering feel is. So much so that I'd gladly sell the S2k to go back to the NSX. :)

My friend has a CTSC AP2 S2000. Dyno'd at 298rwhp with a 202rwhp pre CTSC pull. With just CTSC and exhaust and no EMS, thus no tune. Put it on. Dynod it. Took it to the track.

It is pretty much a drivers race with my NA2 NSX, although I think once aerodynamics came into play at 130mph+, Id get him. Neither really gives up anything on the back straight to the other right up to 210 km/h.

Its wickedly fast and super easy.

I owned a 2004 2.2 S2k with a aftercooled CTSC, CT header, CT exhaust, CT flywheel and a ACT clutch. It was a BLAST to drive but it was not as fast as my 2004 NSX. I think the NSX was still faster before I added my bolt ons. The S2K gave you the illusion it was faster because the VTEC was violent and the gears were VERY short in comparison to the NSX. My S would top out @ 50MPH in 2nd, and 80MPH in 3rd, where the NSX does over 70MPH in 2nd and 100 MPH in 3rd. I estimate the S put 300 RWHP but it didn't make that figure until 8K. You can get 400 + RWHP but it is kind of weak because the car does not make much torque (proabaly around 225. with 400HP on a SC) and the it does not make any serious HP until you get beyond 7 - 7.5K. Now a Turbo system with a GT35R is the hot ticket for that car.

Dave22, I used to be on S2ki.com as squibb. We have a commmon freind from that board: Kevin (NOS8NT). I sold him a 2.2 Turbo spec engine for his new setup.

Here is a pic of my old car. : http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?p=508081#post508081

I was thinking about putting a CTSC s2k instead of an NSX on my list of short term goals for a while, but from what I read it is not that much faster than a stock one due to the gearing. They were saying that the true increase in power was around VTEC range and it was so short. Like Brandonson said, the gearing is so close, by the time you actually have the power it is time to shift. Some were saying be careful when you first get the CTSC installed because in first it can bite you back when you are not ready.

The S2k needed a postive displacement blower like the CTSC NSX IMO. The one comptech chose doesn't really solve the S2Ks lack of low-end TQ.

If I was the only car on an exit ramp I would throttle steer the car in 2nd and 3rd gear !! Below 60 degrees the car would spin the tires halfway through 2nd gear while accelerating. However the lack of torque did not bother me, the blower seemed to perfectly match the car's powerband. It drove just like stock until you stepped on it.

Yep, I remember you. I had the black '01 with the black Vortech kit. :D

As a matter of fact, the car JUST sold yesterday. I'd better get it out of my sig now. How is Kevin's coming along?

Slow, I referred him to a local shop for the engine build and apparently it has been a nightmare. What are you buying now ? I remember your car from some meet pics - the whole kit including the aftercooler was black......right ?

I'm shopping for a pre-'95 NSX now.

Too bad about Kevin. Hopefully he sticks with it. I heard he was thinking about just giving up and moving on.
