crazy antenna

Is it just me or is anyone else annoyed that the antenna comes up even when playing a cd. I saw some contraption somewhere that powers the antenna only when you turn on your radio. Has anyone else seen this? or am I just dumb and havent figured out how to play a cd without the antenna going up?

The "contraption" is called the Smartenna and you can find out all about it by looking up the section of the FAQ under that name.
