CRAP - No more clutch...

Problem: Clutch pedal has been getting real loose lately - I would step on it and sometimes it wouldn't come back up. After reading all the posts seemed like it is a master/slave cyclinder problem. Ordered both parts from Acura and will get it on Wednesday...Problem now is today when I got in it - the clutch pedal goes to the floor without ANY resistance and stays there. I could pull it up but it won't even go in gear now. Is there anything I can do temporarily to get it to work so I can drive it to the shop or do I need to flatbed it?
Also anyone know if there is a good shop out in Corona, CA or nearby if I do need to flatbed it? If I get it driving, was planning on bringing it to Autovation or Cerritos Acura...

thanks, just checkd the reservoir and it was EMPTY...is there a specific kind of brake fluid I need to buy? After I fill it, will there be air in it? Will it be driveable to make it to the shop? BTW BrianK, thanks again for fixing my EPS unit - works great now...

Any Dot 3 or 4 will be fine. Yes there will be air but with a little gentle pumping you may get it operating well enough to drive it the the repair shop. Don't take it to the floor just go down an inch or two and then back up slowly. If that dosent work you will have to bleed out the air at the slave cylinder.

empty?

you probably have an leak at one of the seals in the master/slave cylinders.

its a pretty easy and straight forward job, tackle it yourself.

I know I have a leak - but do you think its from the master/slave for the clutch or the master cylinder from the brake?

You are having trouble with the Brakes also? The 2 systems are not interconnected or related in any way other then they are hydraulic and use the same type of fluid.

It may seem "straight forward" to you..but most people do not have the tools/patience/time for this kind of repair..It's a much better use of time and money to have someone that is familiar with the car take care of it, or you may just end up with more trouble...just like the guy that had his coilovers put in by a "friend" and now his ABS doesn't work anymore

lol zhan

that poor guy with the abs lights

I trust myself more then my friends when it comes to cars. Im pretty sure that if that person did the install himself he would have been more careful.

probably going to cost him an arm for acura to take a look at it.

The brake and clutch systems are independent. take a look through the repair manual and it should be very easy. I missed placed mine right now.

Still an advocate for the DYI.

I like working on my car so much I bought a 2nd one that needed work; I have spent 6 months taking it apart. Now I can see how long it will take to put it back together.
I believe you are a 2 NSX owner yourself; it seems when we hold a winning hand we double our bet.

Which tools did you have in mind? I did the clutch master+slave replacement myself; it was a little awkward, but it didn't require any exotic tools. Good tips are in this thread.

bleeder tool for getting the air from the system is one..,(unless you have someone to help you)..most people that I know would not have the patience for squishing under the dash for that job, there are for the most part 2 types of car owners, DIY type and the Not DIY types....most people are the latter.

I replaced the bleed screw with a Speedbleeder, which made it a one-person job.

Having squished under the dash myself, I have to agree with you that most people wouldn't want to.
