Hey Guys,

Recently one of my cams cracked and it seems to have cracked my cylinder head. The technician took my car to, advised me that i need to change the Heads and cams. Unfortunately I am not much of a car engine expert and was hoping you guys could help clarify some things for me.

Now I have sourced myself a new cylinder head and cam gear, do forgive me if i sound silly, but do I need to change the Cylinder head gasket and block gaskets as well for this?

The camshafts as well, only one of them got damaged, the other has like really minor scratches. Really minor, nor grooves. Do I need to change this one?

I would love to hear what you guys think about this. i really could use some help here.

Thanks for the support guys.

Yes you need to change the Cylinder head gasket. Please define what you mean by "Block gaskets"

exactly how you cracked the cam?

did you ask your technician regarding what needs to be changed?

They have told me that I will need to replace the "Cylinder Gasket Kit" and the "BlocK Gasket Kit", considering that I only need to change the Cylinder head I assume I only need to change the Cylinder Gasket right?

Well one of the Camshafts cracked and the loose debris damaged the Cylinder head. I dont know how the camshaft broke as there is no water leakage or heating issues. I had a look at the Cylinder head, all I see is a deep groove.

So the Technician tells me that the Cylinder head is cracked and the I need to replace the head, the camshafts, Oil Pump (as there might be loose debris in the pump filer or something), and replace the "Cylinder Head Gasket Kit" and " Block Gasket Kit".

What do you guys think?

It is not 100% clear in the parts catalog exactly which gaskets are in each kit. However the bigger issue is that the kits are discontinued. So you will probably need to order individual gaskets for this.

wait a minute, wait a minute..... what happened here? How did a CAM crack? Oil starvation?

Provide more pictures please, we'll piece it together if the technician can't. But first things first - get a diagnosis of most probable cause of failure.
So that it doesn't happen to you again (or more to the point, doesn't happen to any of us!)
