Couple Questions about my NSX

After reflecting upon my track day, I came up with a couple of questions:

1) I always assumed the redline on the NSX was 7500 RPM, but at the track the fuel cutoff occured well past 8K RPM (closer to 8200 RPM). Can the instrumentation be off by that much?

2) Third gear topped out at ~105 mph, again, I always assumed it should be ~ 115 mph. Is this another instrumentation error?

AFAIK, the gearing and ECM are stock.

Redline has always been 8000.

Third gear should go higher than 105 I think. More like 114.

It's also worth noting that redline is shown on the tachometer as the start of the red band, which does indeed begin at 8000 RPM on the manual-transmission cars, 7500 RPM on the automatics.

As shown in the "Gear Ratios" table in the FAQ, the maximum road speed in third with the five-speed is 114 mph. I have found that the indicated road speed when the tach indicates redline is sometimes a few mph less than this chart, but it should be at least 110.

just to help ya out, if you read that info correctly, youll notice that all the references are to a 3.0 auto, and a 3.2 6spd note the gear ratios section, that is why it lists the red at 7500 cause in the 3.0 auto, it is 7500, and that is the engine they are spec'ing there. yours is a 5spd im assuming, did you notice that on the tach in the car, the "red"line starts at 8K this is why its called the redline.... the info your lookin at on that page is the auto, the only difference is going to be the redline, and gear ratios, since the auto is a 4spd, and the manual is a 5spd. and the "rev limiter" the device that cuts the fuel in the NSX, is set to 8100 this gives you just enuf over the redline, to make shift at the redline reliably without hitting the revlimiter, it is there strickly to save your engine, dont wanna ruin a 20K engine.... it just gives ya a 100rpm threshhold to make smooth shifts at the red, kinda hard for the avg driver to hit 8K even every time, so set red at 8K and revlimit 100rpm higher, and makes it easy...

hopes this helps ya understand the misinformation you interpreted....
