Hi Folks,

I am a NE NSXer and yearn to move to Cal. There is an opportunity in the Costa Mesa/ Long Beach area. I just wnated some personal input as to what that area is like. I have only seen the Long Beach GP on TV, never in person. Is it over populated? Is it mountainous? What is the property value like? I have a feeling from what I already know after doing a net search, my NSX and I will be pretty happy!

Thanks for all the responses in advance!

Costa Mesa is a pretty nice city. It has its bad parts and nice parts and I'd say for the most part it's a nice city. They have a great mall there called South Coast Plaza and they have some good high end shopping there. The location is pretty central to Orange County and there's a lot of good food and things to do all within a 30 minute radius.

It is not mountainous (quite flat) and I wouldn't say it's overpopulated but it is well populated. The weather is typical SoCal weather (almost always great) and is fairly cool in summer due to it's somewhat coastal location.

Property value is midrange for OC I think, high compared to other areas. Costa Mesa is next to Newport Beach where the property value is very high. If I were to work in Costa Mesa I'd probably live in Newport Beach or Irvine.

I work in Costa Mesa and live close to Long Beach.
Positives:
Lots to do
Great Weather
Good Food
Ocean, Mountains, and Desert are close.
Lots of NSX’s live in Southern California

Negatives:
Can be expensive
Freeway congestion is bad
Can be over populated depending on your view.

As most people agree, the positive out weight the negatives.
Let me know if you have more specific questions.

Living in Costa Mesa puts you in the center of four counties LA, OC, RS and SD, like living in the center of a hub. This gives you access to several different airports LAX, John Wayne, Ontario and San Diego. For family entertainment there is Disneyland, Sea World, Magic Mountain, La Zoo, SD Zoo, LB Aquarium, Knott's Berry Farm, the arts and many, many others. There is 50+ miles of beach in either direction. Winter recreation not too far away - you could surf in the morning and and be skiing or snowboarding in the evening . The diversity of food is sometimes overwhelming.

The best part is there are typically two NSX meetings every month and bunch of events happening throughout the year. If you love to drive your NSX So. Cal is the place to be!!

This statement is very true!

If your a car guy in general, so-cal is the place to be!...Especially near costa mesa where you can drive down to newport for lunch and are pretty much going to see some more exotics.

So-cal isn't really a place to stay indoors. The general living here is a lot of outdoor activities, so get to meet people with you interest (nsx) and you will find out so-cal is the best living in the U.S. The cost of living is expensive for this life style, and the freeways are packed..but its not too bad you will get used to it. Oh yeah...don't forget the ladies

I'm in Santa Ana Heights which is just a stone's throw North of Costa Mesa..

Been in OC most of my life and love it.... Cost is a little on the high side but I don't think you can go wrong if you come out here..

Don't miss;

The women, weather, food, activities, and NSXs... best of luck!

I've lived here in Costa Mesa for 12 years. I LOVE IT. Just like the posts above, it's very central to a lot of things but more importantly to: NSX THINGS. Repair shops, dealers, and meetings are all convenient. Housing is pricey. I live in the Mesa Verde neighborhood and houses here are hitting one million.

But I read somehwere that 25% of all the NSXs in the US are in CA, and most of them are in SoCal. So here is where you should be.

Welcome to the OC.

And don't forget, you'll be that much closer to NSXPO2005 in Phoenix!! :D
